I've been waiting to post this one since i took it back in September. For some reason i've kept it on the shelf, but now its time to reveal itself :)
I was inspired by some other architectural photographs i've been viewing online, so I went out and tried the identical technique. Not that its a complicated or overly sophisticated technique! All you have to do is Look UP! You may be surprised at what you find, and how the world looks from a different perspective.
Here is a tall glass Highrise Condo in Downtown Vancouver. Hope you like it

Hi Craig, Modern day architecture certainly has something to offer in terms of photography.. The angles, l;ines flows are so different from the designs of yesteryear. You have caught them well well done Rich

well done photo with strong geometrical pattern, emphasized with POW and central perspective

this one is a type of low-angle shot that I love to use sometimes, and that you have chosen cleverly in order to catch an impressive perspective of architectural lines towards the sky.
The geometry of these lines in the glass front of the skyscraper provides a dynamic graphical effect to your composition.
I agree with you, we must look up, in spite of the pain of cervical ones.
A great work, my friend.
I wish to you and to your family a Merry Christmas.

Hi craig. The photo shows your handwriting. The view shows the symmetry of the building. In addition, fine composition and colors. Well done. Rgds, Wolfgang.
... and Merry Christmas.

Good Morning Craig,
I like this very much.
It is sharp, angular, a celebration of the new building materials and their design.
I particularly like how the converging lines rapidly transport the viewer to the pinnacle, and the embrace of the squares.
All the best to you and your girlfriend for a great Christmas,
snunney (83661) 2011-12-23 4:13
The steep upward point of view makes for an excellent graphical composition. Beautifully framed with perfect symmetry. Superb colours and clarity. Happy Christmas.

this is a shot that I instantly recognised as being yours. It has your style and compositional elegance about it. Love the reflected light and as usual it is executed flawlessly.
Happy holidays to you and enjoy the season - Brian.

questo non è corretto! Vuoi una sfida con me con foto di grattacieli? :p
Lo sai che potrei innamorarmi di questa foto? Perchè non me l'hai dedicata? :(
Grande grafismo, perfetta simmetria.
Ti diverti, eh? In una città come la tua, non è difficile.

Yes, photos of modern architecture could be quite intriguing and grafically appealing. I enjoy this very much. It is perfectly symmetrical or as at least as close as you could come to it. This is often what is the most difficult when taking photos like this. You have to have to be in the right place. Your use of wide angle is also very good. TFS and Merry Xmas!
Sergiom (59956) 2011-12-23 6:51
Une contre plongée qui donne une ampleur importante au gratte ciel, une parfaite symétrie et une gestion de la lumière impeccable.

I like this kind of creative architecture. Your POV here is also very creative and your composition is well planned.
Kind regards and a Merry Christmas

la prospettiva esalta l'altezza e le forme dell'architettura.
la luce rende bene i riflessi sulle vetrate.
Merry Christmas for you and your family.
worldcitizen (6955) 2011-12-23 14:42
...yes, I look up, down, and sideways! ;-)
Very nice symmetry in this shot. I like your POV, which I think must have strained your neck a bit! Great sharpness as always. Have a wonderful Christmas!!!

Hi dear Craig
Yes I can look up till the top end.
This is another impressive shot by your own way and taste. Wide focus framework is the best choice.
I am surprised that F5.6 can cover the top and bottom.
I hope today is a precious day for you.
Thanks for everything, best regrads,
delpeoples (53009) 2011-12-23 19:02
Hehehehe, yes I'm not going to comment on the message behind this building as I see it :) But it's a fantastic shot, love the blue tones ad reflections. But most of all it's the perspective and graphism that take the cake (the Christmas cake) for me. Perfectly balanced, beautifully symmetrical and superbly sharp. I couldn't ask for a better Christmas present from you :)
Cheers and I wish you, T, Scoobi and your lovely family a very Mery Christmas and a New Year that brings you everything you wish for
prasun984 (5590) 2011-12-23 22:29

fanni (14379) 2011-12-24 4:54
yes yes I do often look UP :) And even sometimes shoot photos of what I see when I look UP.
What we see may turn out to be very interesting and/or unusual...
This one is a very dynamic shot: the high builing is streaming into the infinite sky - being blue, it is trying to merge with the Infinite Blue :)
well...this is what I feel when I look at this quite modern urban sight :)
Happy Christmas to you - and joy and happiness!

Ciao dear Craig,
fantastic POV that emphasizes the interesting perspective and the enjoyable symmetry, as in a mirror. The photo quality is perfect, especially the sharpness, from first floor to the top floor of this high palace. Excellent idea, well realized. Congratulations!
Ciao, Merry Christmas to you and to your family!
yquem46 (38734) 2011-12-27 12:01
Excellent graphism, colors and lines, of this architecture shot from low angle
Nice visual impact
have a nice day
See you in 2012, on the leave to katmandu
Angshu (55641) 2011-12-29 0:36
This upward looking POV certainly males the tall buildings even more impressive...looks like a giant bird about to soar its wings. Would have been perfectly symmetrical if not for the structure on the left roof top. Like the reflection of the sky & clouds on the glass. Well done!
Wish you & your loved ones a Happy New Year in advance
eldancer1 (27841) 2011-12-29 9:23
I like your pov and great composition! Of course you know we don't have tall buildings here in Vegas. Good dof with sharp details and wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.
