Photographer’s Note

I took this near my house in Surrey, BC. Too bad it was a cloudy day, but this barn still caught my eye. I liked the shape and the unique colour. I like the look of the rustic field and autumn colours in the back.

Hello Tosca,
Ah ça sent bon la campagne ! et avec de belles couleurs d'automne. Il y a une vraie originalité dans la forme de cette grange (typique de ta région ou elle est unique ?). Et la légère brume qui estompe l'arrière plan est esthétique. Juste un détail : la teinte de l'herbe au sol me paraît un peu trop saturée par rapport au reste (mon écran, elle était comme ça ou tu l'as retouchée?)

If you explore my gallery, you will surely notice that I am a fan of old barns and buildings. I really like your composition with the barn well placed upper left and I think it wise to keep the amount of sky to the bear minimum on such an overcase day. The more i look at this scene, the more i appreciate the fog and the hazy feel it presents.
It could be photoshoped to clear the fog, but i think it would loose its appeal if you did that.
Wonderful faded colours mix well, one of your best photos posted yet!

dear Tosca,
a beautiful autumn view shot,
various tones of red/orange/brown are very ambient in this season.
and a little hazy atmosphere feels so ennui, it is because of autumnal cool air and our relaxed sensations in it...

Don't worry about the cloudy day Tosca - the mistiness in the background adds great atmosphere to go with the good colour in the foreground - a great photo.

même à l'autre bout du pays la température n'est pas clémente avec ce ciel tout gris et cette bruma qui enveloppe le paysage agrémenté par cette belle grange rouge et ces arbres tout en couleurs automnale, bravo.

I like these muted colours and the fog and like Gerald says its important to keep the sky to a minimum here as the eye goes straight for the lightest part of the image. I think you did this but perhaps what this image needs is a small border around it to separate the sky from the light BG of the web page.

Calm, tranquillity and peacefulness are characteristics of Horizontal lines?

The mist adds to the mood of the scene. Your composition is great placing the barn off center while using the brightly colored trees to provide balance. Te lighting and colors are great as is the photo's shaprness.

I ever like to see the rural countryside. The wide plot ready to the plough still have the old plants cut shortly. It looks like a very wide squared mantel. The different faint tonalities next to a green stripe. The trees are in their best tonalities too. A mellowed colour which means the leaves will fall briefly. These landscapes are mostly seen in this country and appreciated by the a nature so beauty. The house has un uncommon configuration and is spaceful. Beautiful pure place. Hi Tosca,
looking at your barns-and-buildings gallery this is the picture that immediately drew my eyes. The focus "somewhere in the middle" creates a pleasant blurring in the foreground and a natural softness in the far background, so building a very striking 3-D effect.
Regarding your immediate positive feeling about colours, to be honest I think that the saturation is perhaps a bit too high to depict a cloudy and misty day, but it is only my personal opinion.
Anyway this is a far from trivial posting, much better that a lot of country pictures available on TE. Congratulations indeed, Dario.

PS Sorry for my English: Italian people are not famous for their foreign language skills...

Well composed and good soft color tone!
You're caputuring well fall scenery of canadian counryside. It's good the contrast between reaped farmland, house with red wall and autumnal tints trees of the background. It sees it in the peaceful scene.
