Photographer’s Note
In 2008, BC celebrates its sesquicentennial year (150-year anniversary). It was 150 years ago on August 2nd in 1858 that Queen Victoria gave Royal Assent to an Act To Provide for Government in the Crown Colony of British Columbia and three months later on November 19, 1858 Governor James Douglas read the Proclamation. Courtesy of the BC Day website.
I don't usually post this much but as Monday Aug 4 is BC day and in light of the fact that we are celebrating 150 years as a province I thought I would post some shots from BC. With any luck I might try and go to the fort in Fort Langley with the rest of the hoards and see if I can get a few pics.
This is Chesterman Beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island at about 6am. If you look closely you can see the Lennard Island Lighthouse.

Hi Phil
Excellent capture from Tofino, with the patterns in the sand really standing out. The neutral tones are also great here and so is the different shadows and midtones.
Well composed and I like the low position you have chosen.

I love the patterns on the sand which look as if you used a slow shutter on wind-blown sand although I see you didn't. The reflections in the wet sand are also an important feature for the success of the image.

Hi Phil,
Love the wonderfully textured silver blue foreground that leads the eye beautifully to varying shades of blue and brilliantly contrasting green reflections.
Very unique composition.

Hi Phil,
The patterns look amazing! If there was some sunset color in the sky, it would become ideal. Great shot! thanks for sharing.

Hello Phil,
Good low pov to capture the beauty of these sand patterns. The reflections in the water are the interest which draws the eyes to the back of the shot.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Excellent shot with these patterns in the sand eading us through the image. There seems to be a channel marked by a couple of red buoys. The lighthouse is just to the left of the red buoy on the right hand side I think.
