Photographer’s Note

I wish for all my frie4nds and for me a 2008 of journeys and visiting countries.
Last 2007 it was not so for me and I miss discovering interesting places.

So at the beginning of the year I am looking back at my old pictures: this is Tofino, in Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. I spent perhaps a too short time in this beautiful place in a trip cominc from Vancouver. I hoped to see from the ferry some orca or whale or other animal, but I had not enough luck. Anyway, I enjoyed fantastic landscapes.
I am not able to explain why Tofino was for me one of the places I mostly wished to visit! I remember it not as a gorgeous place, but as a place full of a special atmosphera.

I post some iformation from Wikipedia:
"Tofino is a village of about 1,650 residents on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada, located at the western terminus of Highway 4.

Tofino was named after a Spanish mathematician and scientist, Jefe de Escuadra Tofino, who died in 1795. It is located at the tip of the Esowista Peninsula, and is thus a part of Clayoquot Sound. Islands in the vicinity include Meares, Vargas and Flores. Lone Cone mountain on Meares Island is an extinct volcano. Tofino and the nearby town of Ucluelet are the closest towns to the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

A popular tourist destination in the summer, Tofino's population swells to many times its winter size. It attracts surfers, nature lovers, campers, whale watchers, fishermen, or anyone just looking to be close to nature. In the winter it is not as bustling, however, many people visit Tofino and the west coast to watch storms on the water. "
