Photographer’s Note
Long Beach in Pacific Rim National Park is located on the west side of Vancouver Island. It is one of my favourite places to visit and I generally come back with some images that I like each time we go. The west coast of Vancouver Island is part of the last remaining temperate rain forest in the world so to get a day like this in June is a rarity. I used a blue/yellow filter in conjunction with my polarizer to emphasize the sun. Taken in the days before digital. I just found my original slide and realized that I took this in 2002 and not 1998 as originally posted.

Hi Phil,
This is a very striking picture, even the thumbnail really jumps out at you! You've taken a risk with the yellow filter but I think in this case it works very well, particularly with the sun and flare, and creates a very fresh, original image. The sand texture is brought out well and I like the dark rock and water in the foreground which counterbalances the bright sky.
Well done!

Hi Phil,
Excellent colour and compositon in this photo. It must be tricky taking a photo with the sun in it. The foreground patterns and textures come out well in the golden light.

Hello Phil
I like the yellow colour that jumps out the picture. Great texture of the water and it is old but it's still pleasant to look at. Amazing view and the use of light is well done.
Best regards
Denis!

Hello Phil,
In this surrealistic image you've given us something new. The deep shadows accentuate the strange topography, and the golden hues of the sun gives the image a strange aura, a certain mystique. Very good composition, colors and resolution.
Warm regards and have a good weekend,
Bulent

There are two things that I really like about this - The first is the golden colour, which is very attention getting and attractive. The second is the incredible texture of the ripples on the beach. The composition is very strong too, with those rocks and the pools of water around them. Excellent 'vision' to be able to see this!

Hi Phil,
Very effective use of your polarizer that paints all the craggy details left by the retreating tide in wonderful gold plating. Fantastic details and sharpness to this fine photo.

Hello Phil
Just like gold! Beautiful colour tones. In fact the two puddles amidst the ripple dunes makes this even more attractive. This is really wonderful, a picture taken with a good photographic vision.

Hello Phil,
this golden colour is gorgeous...
I visited the Pacific Rim National Park in 1999 but the weather at that time was very (!) bad.
thank you for sharing
