As mentioned in my previous post, the snow had fallen alot in the past couple of days so i wanted to capture a few shots.
I went to TyneHead Park, located in a suburb of Vancouver called Surrey. Surrey is where I live, and this park is only 10-15 minute drive away.
To my amazement there were STILL joggers running the 5Km path that circles the Park despite the snow and cold temperatures.
It really got me thinking about the Human Determination Dedication and Drive. This lady here was probably going to go jogging today no matter what the weather - and that takes iniative, good for her.
I enjoy jogging too, but i have to be honest...I'm more of a 'fair weather' activity guy :)
If you look at the MAP view, you can actually see the circular path she would have taken. I've completed this track many times myself but never ever in the snow or rain!
thanks for looking

as I see,the long wait for the first snow has been rewarded in excess:)
Lovely winter scene. The trees covered by snow look always so beautiful. Here additionally I like the fact, that you included this jogger in the frame(he´s perfectly placed in the scene)

Well, so you have had some snow this year though not all that much compared to the eastern parts of North America. And certainly not enough to put off this determined jogger from taking her daily run around this park.
I'm wondering how you took this picture - were you jogging along behind or did you take it from the comfort of your warm dry car? However you took it, this is quite a novel photo from you, a lovely snowy scene with tall bare trees dusted with fresh snow and the jogger, providing the only real colour in the shot, perfectly placed in the frame and accompanied by her bright reflection in the wet roadway.
Lovely soft light, muted colours, perfect exposure and your usual exceptional attention to detail.
P.S. Thanks for adding that Map view - and the little yellow man has walked along part of the circular path too and I was able to view a roadway very similar to this with tall trees on either side!
P.P.S. Did you get my message about Madagacar?

Hello Craig ,
Despite of the fact that I hate this kind of weather (snow and mist) , I like a lot this moody picture , perfectly composed , with a very well chosen tittle , and , as usual , an interesting and funny note .

I was a sport man a lot years, snow, rain, fog or low temperatures this was all the same, always walk, the most beautiful sport in the world, is very cheap.
Your picture is a very nice winter picture with a road completely free od snow.
Your angle create depth and perspective.
Excellent composition, nice presentation.
Very well done, TFS.

Simple and nice scene. There a re a lot of people doing this kind of thing. I also get up at 6 am to swim :P
Have a nice day.

Quite a different sort of shot, for you, well, certainly from Vancouver! As a dry-weather jogger, this must have been somewhat traumatic for you!
Great shot, however! The wet, reflective path makes a most effective guide to the strongly placed jogger who is surrounded by a soft white carpet and delightfully arty filigree trees.
Have a great day,

This is a fine example of human endurance and determination and you have chosen a fine photo to portray it. The road and the jogger is perfectly placed in the frame. The snow covered barren trees look so beautiful, they seem to etched out in the colorless sky. Good for you to live in a spectacular place like this. Excellent shot, thanks for sharing.

Hello Craig, very nice image here. I guess that this man in your photo is feeling great by doing this. Unfortunately we don't do this too often. I mean, i like to run but to tell you the truth i wouldn't stick my nose out on this weather. Good title.

A grey day in winter. I have to check up if there are any colors. Yes, I find a pair of pink BARE legs! I might consider jogging in this kind of weather but not dressed like in summer. It's a very neat and attractive composition, graphically very nice from the almost monochrome look and the sharp details of the trees.

evocative shot this and superbly conceived. Always admire these "all weather" joggers, but then we are "all weather" image makers so deserve some praise too. This wonderful shot is testament to that. Like this one a lot Craig.

This could just as easily be Surrey in the UK after a heavy snowfall. I like the focal point offered by the intrepid jogger who adds a nice splash of colour and brings the scene to life.
BennyV (17702) 2014-02-26 5:41
Fine shot, though I'm glad that I'm not a guy jogging about in the snow, legs all pink, etc. :) I'll join the fair weather club and am most happy with the winter we've had in Europe this year.
New kind of picture for you to post, it seems. But I quite like it.
Cheers & stay warm.

J'aime beaucoup l'atmosphère qui se dégage de cette composition.Une histoire de détermination et de volonté pour cette personne qui veut conserver la forme même si la neige tombe à plein ciel.

Ciao Craig, fascinating winter view, lovely composition with running person, excellent clarity, wonderful soft colors and splendid light, very well done my friend, ciao Silvio

Great winter scene! I like the way the path cuts through the frame and makes a black stripe in the snow. I can understand running when it's cold, but in shorts??!! All of the bare tree branches are nice, and the white sky actually looks pretty in this photo. :-)

un très beau paysage hivernal, c'est simple et bien composée avec la trace noire formée par la route.
Très agréable présence humaine.

a nice view here. Like the snow covered surrounding and like how one performing his daily jogging despite of such cold weather. Excellent composition with perfect light and depth. Very well done. Tfs.

Man, what is the deal with joggers and bikers...those people are nuts sometimes! :) They must all have joined a legion of the U.S. Postal Service and sworn to live by the credo of "Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow..."
I had recently seen a t.v. news report from NYC where a couple of smarmy joggers were being interviewed during their run in the heavy snowfall, touting how great it was to jog in those conditions...only to finish up their remarks, take off running again, and have one of them slip and fall flat on her back about 10ft. away...totally caught on camera! haha
I shouldn't laugh, at least they're staying fit...I'm much more the antithesis these days!?
I like what you've shown us with the last two pictures, the natural weather conditions, which are topical and a just bit out of the ordinary for your region. I'm sure a lot of people think Canada is completely blanketed in snow about 9 months out of the year, so this should go a long way in helping to dispel that misnomer. lol
A beauty shot though, using the path as a clear guide into the distance, and the inclusion of the jogger does in fact convey that human spirit of dedication. Great use of the current weather to display some of natures simple charm. Have a good one. All the best.
Cheers from sunny 'ol Az.,

Jolie exploitation de cette couche de neige fraîche dans cette photo hivernale bien composée.

i remember once reading that you were not much into white skies, though i see here the contrary. for me, it works very well, almost giving a b&w taste. the composition and the use of perspective are very good.
ps: thinking of your short time in istanbul, i'd recommend you to stick to the sultanahmet area. there are hundreds of hotels/hostels or guest houses avaliable for any budget. 200 USD is a rate too high for sure but i don't think that you should go for hostels.
emka (100039) 2014-02-27 12:29
It is a bit of snow but probably not so cold, the path looks wet. I am not surprised she is jogging but is she in shorts?? This I find very strange. My son goes on bike in every weather and goes in sandals without socks sometimes in winter, but it is nothing compared to this brave woman. Nice photo, seems black and white except the bare legs of the lady.

Really well contained as we can feel it of a bleak and atmospheric wintry image which conveys big freeze - plenty of white stuff- perfectly. Love the curve & lead-in lines & the figure adds so much. Fabs winter shot. Congrats TFS
delpeoples (58616) 2014-03-01 21:19
Wow, now even at the best of times, I think jogging is for nutjobs, but in the snow and rain!? This jogger is absolutely cray-cray! Love it! I also like the tiny blob of colour in amongst all the neutral blacks and whites of the scene. You positioned the converging lines of the road superbly, slightly off-centre, which guide the eye very cleverly into the image. An interesting and very seasonal shot from you, nice one.
Now to go take some of my happy pills, I feel like posting again :)
npecanhuk (75592) 2014-03-02 6:49
It's not easy to go out there in this weather, either for jogging or photographing!
Good for the ones who go jogging, to keep up their shapes and healthy bodies!
Good for us that have the opportunity to see this beautiful picture!
TFS - congrats,
adores (45717) 2014-03-26 9:44
Looks almost a b&w shot! You're transmitting the winter atmosphere really well and it's a good composition with the lonely man walking along the little road. The bare trees and the white snow add a lot.
