Photographer's Note

The Fraser River is at it's lowest right now but this sand bar won't be accessible for long as the spring thaw will bring water down from the mountains. I was attracted by the simplicity here and including the long slender dried branch added a touch of time and depth with the diagonals providing some interesting energy to this scene.

This may be my last post for a while as I will be otherwise occupied with various projects and travel. I will, however, be stopping by occasionally to take a peek.

Like you say good FG interest with strong diagonals that give a sense of movement even though it is quite calm. Have a good trip.

I protest! You cannot call this picture 'simplicity'! Because it is a very well elaborated composition, with a perfect framing, a skillful management of light, a top notch exposure, a beautiful mirror effect. Congratulations!

Simple but beautiful, Gerald.
Wonderful sky, stunning reflection, good foreground interest. The colour tones are wonderful, and your saturation and contrast levels very judicious. Great DOF too. A lovely photo.

An amazing play of light as the sun is lowering toward the horizon!
The calm river serves as the perfect mirror and the diagonal shoreline adds dynamics...
A fine peaceful landscape, where my eyes at last goes to the silhouetted bridge in the back..!

Not as simple as your title, there is a bit going on here with so much details, the sandy foreground for example has details patterns, a few branches to make it interesting, the reflection of the dramatic sky is fantastic. Good light, good colros, and lovely composition.

Hi Gerald,
The calm Fraser River makes a splendid canvas to capture the striking reflection of the dramatic sky.
The distant bridge and rugged peaks make a lovely backdrop and the richly textured beach an excellent lead-in to this special landscape.
