Photographer’s Note

A late afternoon view of the Columbia River adjacent to the town of Revelstoke. The only indication of the town to be seen here is the blue dome of the courthouse. The town itself is lies behind the trees lining the river bank. It's worth turning off the highway visiting the town - it's full of neat little cottages and has great mountain views from both sides of the river.

Scanned from a slide. Polariser used. An unsharp mask was used to brighten up the background and bring out the clouds.

That has a superb frame architecture and planning. The view is well and widely exposed and you have achieved a good balance in colours and textures. The view itself is superb

colors and light are perfect. I like the tongue of green land and sand which goes from the center of the frame to the foreground. It gives a nice sense of depth

Hello Vincent.
A magnificent panoramic landscape shot taken in very good light, and revealing great clarity. The composition is excellent, with the bridge on the left and the courthouse dome on the right. Beautiful green tones and a varied sky. Really pleasing to the eye and good scanning job.

Hello Vincent,

Lovely capture of this very secluded town. If that dome was not there I would have had difficulty noticing any form of civilization other than the bridge. For me, the best part is the angular island in the FG providing some good shapes and colour in the first half of the image. The background is most impressive with those gigantic peaks in the distance. Looks like a wonderful area to tour.
