The Alberni Inlet, a photo from British Columbia, Western

Photographer's Note

Taken a few days after Christmas 2002, on a cold afternoon. The days are quite short in the winter months, and normally dark by 5pm. What I remember most, is how cold it was!

My cousin and I drove 20 minutes out of Port Alberni to China Creek, in hopes of catching some good shots of the sunset. China Creek is a marina/ campground located on the Alberni Inlet south west of the city.
This shot is looking down the inlet as the clouds come in off the pacific. Somewhat ominous looking I think..

glorious colors and textures. the clouds almost seem to imitate the stones in the forefront. there's a intimacy to this photo as if the view was only to be seen by a select few.

Hello Daniel,

I like the two colors, blue-gray and orange that match together, and it gives a feeling of cold and winter. Perhaps by using a tripod you would have got a larger depth of field, and get the front a bit sharper.

Hi Dan - great shot of the area. You really caught the mood of the place, with the dark, tree covered mountains and the clouds rolling in. I can almost feel that cold wind!

Despite this photo is split in the middle, I like it. Fantastic colors. Clouds improve the dramatic effect. Nice classic frame. Well done.

Excellent shot of a beautiful deserted region, Dan. Very nice depth of field with clear and sharp foreground and hazy mountains in the background. I like the shot.

this is a really fine work, and I like the colors and tonality. you have exposed the foreground and background really well. It has so much calm and tranquility into it. a fine show indeed.

Great picture. The colours are freeze like the weather. The view at the sea level gives to the stone of the first plan a good place.

this view may be dramatic, but i'm finding it relaxing also... i like how mountains are being eaten by clouds, great POV, details and colors.
