Photographer’s Note
My last post was Lake O'Hara in Yoho National Park and this from the same area. Lake O'Hara is about 6,000 ft above sea level and this up another 1,500 ft behind the mountain that formed the backdrop of the last post. It's called the Opabin Plateau and the first snowfall happened about a week before this image was taken. Unfortunately I did not have a polarizer with me at the time. Somehow it got left behind at the B&B.

I love this photo!
The colours of the trees, the reflection in the water and of course..... the first snow.
No problem that you couldn't use your polarizer.

Hello Phil,
Beautiful landscape with a great contrast between the snow and those that print color to spruce making. Excellent details and reflexes.

Hi Phil
I don't miss winter. Summer is too short. The green trees fits well in that landscape. They make two green triangles. I like the reflection too.
Best regards
Denis!

Funny to see autumn colour and snow in the same image. The perspective view works extremely well to draw the eye into the scene. The sloping fringes of trees really catch the eye and there are some lovely reflections.

Hi Phil,
Wonderful clarity with a stunning image in this calm alpine lake.
Excellent details and sharpness and a striking contrast between the evergreen and light dusting of snow.
Regards, Tom

My uncle used to say we get good beer and freezing weather from Canada so there is balance in life.

Brrr!
It's cold here in San Francisco (typical for August), so I'm already feeling chilled, and this scene just intensifies it. Nice monochrome makes the touches of color stand out even more. I would have liked a bit more color in the sky, but I suppose it really was like that.
Best,
Dan

Hello Phil,
I think you have lots of great shots in your gallery which have missed my attention till now.
This is a stunning view with near perfect reflection. The variance of green tones of the coniferous trees is extremely interesting in the alpine setting.

Hi Phil. Got your critique and am glad that you are back.Quite a stirring scene as it shows a scene devoid of human impact or interference and shows nature in its remoteness and beauty.Rugged yet spectacular.Well managed exposure and excellent details. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Phil:
Hey, this looks about like my experience at Lake O'Hara. Except the larches weren't turning yet. :) That place has the craziest weather of anywhere I've ever been--it can go from blue skies to blizzard in fifteen minutes. Nice shot considering the conditions. I like the reflection there, in spite of the lack of a polarizer. :)

Hi, Phil.
Looks like I missed this one. I checked out the date and... indeed, I was on vacation at the time.
Well, it's a carefully built, beautiful composition. Masterful use of converging diagonals to create great depth of field. Furthermore : outstanding lighting, color and definition, not to mention the totally wintery looks & atmosphere... man, this looks awesome but CHILLY!
Have a good day, buddy. TFS, I'll see you soon,
Fulvio.
