Photographer’s Note
I've been trying my best to play a more active role in posting to TrekEarth, in the sense that I'm trying to post images on a daily basis.
This is another image from last Augusts trip through the magnificent Canadian Rockies. I'm somewhat ashamed that I took me living on the other side of the globe in Singapore to really appreciate the natural beauty that existed essentially at my back door.
Although the main attraction of Takakkaw Falls (just outside the small town of Field, B.C.) is the falls themselves, I could not help but to take notice of the stunning mountain scape opposite the falls. Given the time of day when I visited the falls, the mountain range opposite was much more photogenic in that I was not facing directly into the sun (ie: I was able to take a bit more advantage of the natural contrast in the sky without (to the best of my recollection) the use of a circular polarizer.
I love seeing the raw rock detail and the layers that have developed over the centuries as these plates are pushed up with the movement of the tectonic plates.
The only thing I do not like about this image is the cloud that case the dark shadow over part of the trees.
I hope you like the shot,
- Dan

Hi Dan Nice shot, and nice narrative, I like the POV and the clouds above only add depth to the presence of the mountain.

Hi Dan:
Nice shot. Not enough good shots of this area. Sharpness is quite nice, and the shot is perfectly exposed. However, I would have cropped out that tree at the very right--it seems to be a bit of a distractor. Otherwise, quite nice.
