Photographer’s Note

We hiked up to the Opabin Plateau in Yoho National Park about a week after the first snowfall and experienced the larches starting to turn gold in the fall. Larches are the only tree with needles that shed every year like a deciduous tree. This was at about the 7,500 ft (2,200 meter)level above sea level.
