I find it always interesting to note how dramatically the sky will change in a matter of minutes as the sun sets behind the horizon. This capture was taken only five minutes later than this one. The deep orange pinks have turned into soft purple, a wonderful moment at the close of the day.
When you take the time to enjoy the closing moments it does something for you. I have found that by appreciating the wonders of the outdoor world, and by taking the time that is required to see and record moments like this, nature in response has imparted to me a renewed vigor for my existence. If there is a reason for living, I am sure it has something to do with discovering the wonders of, and unlocking the mysteries of this natural world. Or perhaps I have spent too much time working in a warehouse and I need to get out more!

Beautiful shot! Wow, that sky is amazing, and the little bit of water at the bottom gives a good reflection, and actually lightens up the whole picture. Great work!

Another beautiful photo. I can almost feel the cold :-)
I agree with you that we should always appreciate the wonders of this world. I wish I always have the time to record, though.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Paul. That pink sky reminds me of what I saw in Victoria. I love the soft pastel feel to this one. The color you used in the frame matches perfectly to the sky. tfs Paul.

Hi Paul. A very enticing world of colour and light. Marvellous deep tones. Perfect role for the reflection, lighting up an otherwide beautiful but heavy foreground.Regards. Klaudio.

Great colours and a good sunset shot. The sky looks great. The shot is a little too blue, but that's just my taste.
There seems to be a funny area of really strong blue just in front of the water? Of course, that's more than likely to be my eyeballs:)

Belle image, Paul! La lumière et les couleurs sont superbes et le reflet, dans la partie non gelée du lac, splendide.

Hi Paul. It’s one thing to enjoy the sunset but another entirely to have the skills to capture and then share the experience. You do! Well composed and thanks for standing out in the cold for us to enjoy your sunset.;-)

This is stunning! The colours of the sky are beautiful silhouetting the mountains. The water and the reflections are superb, and the cold blue tones of the snow are good too! I like your other shot very much too. Well done and TFS :-)

Love the way we see the beautiful reflection in a dark environment, the sky colors are great and the silhouette produces an excellent effect. Good POV and composition.
Well done. TFS.

I know exactly what you mean about fast changing lighting- and it's interesting to see in the shots.
Sharp detail and a good composition, the saturation has really brought out the colors in the sky well, but I find the ground a touch too blue for me. I think I might have adjusted the saturation of the sky seperately from the ground.
Other then that Paul, and excellent winter scene!

Hi Paul - the sky is beautiful enough, but my favourite part is the reflective pond in the middle, great work.
jazu (415) 2006-12-09 11:56
Another great shot. Reflection in the pond has lot to do wit it.
Chilliwack should be proud of having such a great photographer. Is that really original shot? No PS involvement?
Thanks to images like this one, I think, I have an answer to my question. I'm returning my S3 IS and replace with 350D.
