Photographer's Note
It's been a little over a week since my last posting, as I've been busy with preparations for my brothers wedding which is quickly approaching.
I want to dedicate this shot to Paul (PJE) who I have just learnt is currently in hospital undergoing quite serious surgery.
"Paul, I hope all goes well- and here is to a speedy recovery my friend"
This shot taken from the JAL (Japan Airlines) 747 coming in from Tokyo.
Most flights I've been on returning from Asia have approached YVR (Vancouver Airport) from the West, but on this trip we had to approach from the East.
The highrise buildings visible here is a suburb of Vancouver called Burnaby. I lived here for a couple years before moving to Singapore. I actually used to live right across the street from the highrise visible on the far right hand side.
I hope you like the photo. This is my first attempt at posting a panoramic.

If you hadn't mentioned that the photo was taken from a jet I would have never known. I would have expected to see a less sharp photo since you took it through a window.
Great shot of a great city.

Hi Dan,
I never thought I would be salivating over a shot of Burnaby (having grown up there in my youth) but this is indeed a minor treasure. The cloud bank overlay is like a magic carpet. Great clarity, considering you would have been shooting through a rather dirty plane window. The panorama format suits this very well. I wasn't aware about Paul in hospital; but thanks for dedicating this to him. I will enquire further...All the best.

Amazing shot Dan! I've seen shots of the fog on the city before, but ususually they are taken from the mountains. This one includes the mountains in the shot, making it very unusual and beautiful. This deserves to be blown up to poster size. Superb!

Hi Dan, this is quite a spectacular view with skycrapers rising out from the mist and the chain of high mountains in the background.
I prefere the small pic to the LP though, because I can see the whole panorama at a glance and maybe also because the limitated resolution lets the LP appear less sharp.
Great shot, TFS!

Beautiful!
And best wishes for a speedy recover to your friend Paul.

Hi Dan,
That was my turn to wonder where you had disappeared! Nice to see a picture of you again! Very touching, that dedication to Paul. I knew for his surgery. Hope everything is fine! I'm curious, how many pictures to make that panorama? It is very impressive with that blanket of clouds, the mountains and the highrises. Very well done my friend!

Hello Daniel, stunning shot. The panoramic format has given even more impact. Looks like a floating city emerging for the ground. the POV is excellent. It makes an impression in everyone I guess. Its unusual, beautiful, with a great contrast and definition. Lucky you to get this view from the plane (it even looks like your plane didn’t had windows), and thanks for sharing it with us. Have a nice weekend. Manuel.

What a stunningly beautiful shot, but I bet it wasn't too pleasant for those underneath all the low cloud. The detail is amazing, not just the buildings but the mountains in the distance (Rockies?)
Thank you for mentioning Paul. If you are in touch with him will you pass on my good wishes too.

Well Daniel you sure picked an amazing photo for me to see here. I love the cloud covering over Vancouver. After my surgery was cancelled and put off for a week I now have a nice reminder that people on TE care about others. Thanks Daniel. I can see your heart is really in BC.! That is where it always belongs!

Hi Dan. This is a very impressive, panoramic view of this beautiful place. It looks like the high buildings are rising from the fog - it's a magnificent effect! Great location, excellent point of view, natural colors, great depth and a very nice composition with the mountains, the fog, the sky and the city. I love your technique and photos. Welldone!

Great picture. The fog is just at the good altitude. You have a lot of chance to see it. But you also have a good reaction to take this picture. Thanks to share it.
Well done Dan.

Hi Dan - very successful attemt at a first panoramic, and the image clarity is amazing considering it was taken from a jet, it would have been a great view any day, but the fog really gives it a special rare quality.
