Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken at Burnaby Lake Regional Park in Burnaby which is near Vancouver, Canada. It was a beautiful but cold evening. The fog created a nice atmosphere here and the colours of the sunset were so nice.
Info about the photo: This photo is an HDR processed image. I started from 3 RAW files taken with a slightly different exposure. I put the photos together in the program Photomatix in which I created the HDR image. I am not that great with HDR yet and I tend to get strong colours. After that I processed the photo a little bit in photos where I added a little contrast to bring out the colours even more.
Please see my previous HDR photos from the same evening:

Some information on Burnaby Lake Regional Park: Burnaby Lake Regional park is located in the city of Burnaby which is a part of the Greater Vancouver area and about 5 minutes driving from my place. This park includes a beautiful lake, a lot of hiking trails and is a great spot for bird watchers. Burnaby Lake Regional park is one of the best spots in the Vancouver area for bird watching, you may find great blue herons, bald eagles, belted kingfishers, osprey and the rare green heron and much more. In the summer time you can rent a canoe to have a closer look at the ducks, beavers and marsh-dwelling turtles.
There are 4 places where you park your car and start your walk. You can circle the lake for example which is about 19km (12mi). On the way you'll find the Wildlife Rescue Association or BC with a beautiful garden that's home to many wild birds. On the North side of the lake is the Nature House which is open in the summer for displays, talks and interpretive nature classes. The fresh air, outdoor exercise, city views, and plenty of wildlife of the two and four-legged variety make this a great spot to enjoy.
Burnaby Lake was created by a glacier 12,000 years ago and its shores were home to sawmills in the late 1800's. Now it is a beautiful protected area for us to enjoy. (Info from the Burnaby City Parks website).

Hi Ann!
This looks very calm and mystic with the fog and the birds. You found a good foreground for your composition and I like the colors there.Bute the colors at the lake and sky ,turning from pink to blue and vise versa are wonderful too.

Hoi, Ann.
Simplicity is an art in itself, zeg ik altijd...

Groetjes,
Henk

Hi Ann,
I know this lake. I used to live in the lower mainland. Burnaby Lake is a nice spot in the middle of a busy world. Super capture and great job on the HDR.

Hi Ann
Nice symmetrical reflections, with the low fog on the water, adding mood, mystery & atmosphere. Wonderful sunset colours, with subtle warm cold colour contrasts, between the blue & orange. Tfs!

Bonjour Ann,
avec une telle photo, on ne rate rien de la beauté de cet endroit calme et sous des couleurs effectivement féériques. Il faut savoir choisir son moment et cette soirée était propice à faire ressortir tout le charme de l'endroit avec notamment ces brumes.
Excellent week-end.
Daniel.

Hi Ann, you are right, the evening is most colourful. I love the mist rolling in and how you have captured the stillness and tranquillity of the place. It looks like a wonderful place to sit and think. Thanks again for the photo and have a very relaxing weekend, Lisa.

Hi Ann,
Lovely tranquil end of day image with beautiful mysterious fog to go with the fine mix of blue and gold colors.
The birds in flight are a definte plus to this peaceful image.

Hi Ann, I just found you under your new username :) Hope you are well. Lovely evening atmosphere in this one, with the mist hovering above the lake, and the mood from the orange and red hues in the sky being amplified by the reflections. Good inclusion of the foreground vegetation for compositional balance and depth.

Groetjes,
Klara
