Photographer’s Note
A sunset photo taken at Burnaby Lake near Vancouver, Canada.
About this photo: On a wonderful Sunday afternoon we decided to go for a walk at Burnaby Lake Regional Park which is only about 5 minutes driving from our place. We wanted to stay until sunset so I could get some sunset photos. As the sun was setting I noticed it was setting nicely behind the buildings in the distance. There was just a bit of cloud around and the lake turned so calm which created some nice reflections. I noticed there was a duck on the water as well.

Some information on Burnaby Lake Regional Park: Burnaby Lake Regional park is located in the city of Burnaby which is a part of the Greater Vancouver area and about 5 minutes driving from my place. This park includes a beautiful lake, a lot of hiking trails and is a great spot for bird watchers. Burnaby Lake Regional park is one of the best spots in the Vancouver area for bird watching, you may find great blue herons, bald eagles, belted kingfishers, osprey and the rare green heron and much more. In the summer time you can rent a canoe to have a closer look at the ducks, beavers and marsh-dwelling turtles.
There are 4 places where you park your car and start your walk. You can circle the lake for example which is about 19km (12mi). On the way you'll find the Wildlife Rescue Association or BC with a beautiful garden that's home to many wild birds. On the North side of the lake is the Nature House which is open in the summer for displays, talks and interpretive nature classes. The fresh air, outdoor exercise, city views, and plenty of wildlife of the two and four-legged variety make this a great spot to enjoy.
Burnaby Lake was created by a glacier 12,000 years ago and its shores were home to sawmills in the late 1800's. Now it is a beautiful protected area for us to enjoy. (Info from the Burnaby City Parks website).

Excellent week-end.
Daniel.

Hi Ann, great job combining the sunset and reflections on this beautiful lake. The clouds are stunning, the CP filter has worked its wonders here - so good choice. Thanks also for your technical notes, I find them really helpful. Have a great weekend, Lisa.

Hi Ann
A superb sunset with the solitary, silhouetted duck at left, making a fine focal point. Wonderful reflections, sharpness & graphism. Tfs!

Hello Ann,
A sunset we all hope for when travelling to special places. Absolute beautiful color, perfectly clear sky with just enough cloud to give some interest in the sky, silhouette of trees line separating the sky and the lake, the reflection of color in the water is mesmerizing. Big open space of sky and water, giving a sense of freedom and traquility. Well composed, though I find it lack a little something to anchor our vision. Perhaps a small paddle boat, a rock in the foreground or some water plants or more birds closer up.

Fantastiques couleurs pour ce coucher de soleil. Peut-être manque-t-il une accroche supplémentaire au premier plan, genre barque ou autre?

Hi Ann,
extremely beautiful sunset shot. Light is really pleasant. The horizon line is where it should be. I like the space you reserved for the lake. Oh, and there is the cherry, that little duck. Great job!

Hi Ann,
The reflections in the water are assets to the composition. The point of view leads our eyes toward the sun in the background which is giving depth to the scenery. The sunset is giving nice colors to the sky, to the lake and a set of shadows to the forest. Have a nice day.
