Photographer’s Note

The Bugaboo Provincial Park (The Bugaboos) is a favorite destination for rock climbers. The granite spires towering over the glaciers are excellent for climbing, as opposite to the friable rock of the Rocky Mountains. Despite its breathtaking scenery, the region is not very well known and few tourists get to see it. This is due mainly to the remoteness of this mountain range, which is accessible from Radium after nearly 50 km of rough dirt road and two hours of sustained ascent on a steep and narrow path. Over the next days I will post a few images from this area.
The Howser Spires are likely the least accessible from all granite spires of the Bugaboos because of the steepness of the rock and the difficult approach on a strongly crevassed glacier. Different routes lead to the individual towers, the highest of which rises at 3412 m. The image was taken from the second peak of the Pigeon Spire. For comparison, a few climbers can be seen on the bottom left, on the first peak of the Pigeon Spire.
The image was put together from two pictures taken @ 17 mm and 200 ISO.
