Well its that time of season again, time for the Tulip Season. Of course you won't find this in Vancouver, you have to drive out into the valley to Agassiz.
We couldn't have picked a better day! The clouds were out in full force, so that meant it was also time to bring out the wide angle lens, my favorite.
We got here at 10am, stayed until 12 noon, and soon after we left the rain began to fall - so it was perfect timing.
Hope you enjoy it

Is it your photo, not John's? I had no idea you also have tulips fields in Canada. Sunning depth and colours. fantastic converging rows of the flowers.

L'arrière plan montagneux est un plus par rapport aux images des Pays-Bas! Très belle photo de ce champ de tulipes surmonté d'un très beau ciel.

I saw this series on FB and Instagram, and was hoping you'd post them soon. And sure enough you have. No wonder, these rows of tulips really are stunning. I love the perspective and I particularly like that exaggerated distortion in the far right FG corner, caused by your ultra-wide angle lens. Beautiful graphism and colour. Have you seen Gigi's tulips? Seeing yours and hers makes me realise that Spring has sprung in your side of the world, when we're starting to hit Autumn. (The water was 27C in Qld, 30C on land and 90% humidity when we're a month off winter).

Ciao e buona domenica

Tulips are wonderful!
Those fields look so beautiful!
A very attractive picture too!
I love that sky as well!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, horizontal format, slim black borders, chosen pov and composition pleased me a lot!
TFS - congrats,
Enjoy your Sunday,

Vous êtes très en avance sur nous.On se croirait en Provence car les montagnes au loin sont très semblables. J'aime beaucoup le ciel très présent dans l'image.

The clouds here are actually moving, incredible effect to get, and I guess the wide angle lens helps with this. Beautiful 3D effect. And what a sight to capture it on too, these rows and rows of flowers of every color imaginable. This is like a scene from a David Attenborough documentary!
Cheers as always
Kamilutka (8079) 2014-04-27 7:54
all the pictures of tulips on TE so far showed them very colorful and bright. Yours are purely white and for a moment I thought it was snow on the grass. I like your POV which resulted in very nice perspective. The rows of yellow, pink and purple flowers in the far distance create very pretty and contrasting element of the composition. Good depth and superb sharpness.
Well done! TFS
mesutilgim (79212) 2014-04-27 8:56
Your tulips are competing with my tulips :-)
Here you've captured them perfectly wtill when they are in the fields.
Very good pov with this nice cloudy sky, crowning the scenery. Nice framed
TFS and best regards

No Tulips in Vancouver, shall I believe you?
No kidding, this is a gorgeous shot with these rows of multicolored tulips, disappearing in the distance and the wide open sky is simply magnificent.
have a great sunday

This kind of photo should be the privilege of the Dutch and Belgian members ;-). On the other hand there are usually not that many hills seen in similar pictures from those countries, making this a bit different. Mass produced tulips really provide for colorful photos, but here it's like you actually were more interested in the magnificent clouds by giving them two thirds of the area. I won't object to that.
williewhistler (12038) 2014-04-27 13:27
I enjoy your composition with the interesting expanse of sky perfectly complementing the endless rows of white tulips.
The glimpse of purple and gold add just that extra bit of contrast, nicely done.
All the best Les.

wow...thats a beauty.love the place and the colors and the colorful flowers.great pov and angle .

The lower third of the picture could have been anywhere in Holland, but this illusion is taken away when you raise your eyes. Nowhere in Holland you can find such mountains! Beautiful tulips and very fine colours. And impressive mountains too...
SnapRJW (28714) 2014-04-28 0:19
This is an unexpected shot from you Craig and I really like it. I think the weather did you a favour actually as there is such mood here with the clouds scudding across the sky adding dynamism to the landscape. The clouds also contrast well with the neat rows of flowers.
Beautiful... what a sight to see.
Have a good week
Cricri (100105) 2014-04-28 6:47
Un beau champs de tulipes comme en Hollande sauf qu'ici le paysage n'est pas plat :-) avec le fond montagneux, le ciel est superbe avec ces l'effet dynamique des nuages blancs
eldancer1 (24625) 2014-04-29 7:29
I like the low pov being able to capture a lot of the flower farm against the beautiful sky. You must feel like you were in flower heaven. I used to go to the flower farms outside Portland, Oregon, when I lived there. Good lighting and nice details with wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.
tyro (18202) 2014-05-01 1:29
No modern architecture, no crumbling Cuban buildings, no ancient battered motor cars, but a beautiful and engaging landscape - yet another photographic genre in which you are clearly very accomplished!
This is just so reminiscent of pictures from Holland with tulips as far as the horizon but, of course, the horizon with its high mountains is much more impressive than that in pictures from the Low Countries.
Your wide lens has given a wonderfully exaggerated perspective and the bands of bright colours in the tulip fields are delightful. Excellent composition with fine "lead in" lines, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness throughout.

A beautiful landscape with a fantastic sky and dof! I like the light and we can almost see the clouds moving. Very good work!
