About an hour west of Calgary lies Canmore, a gateway town to the Canadian Rockies. Canmore is only minutes away from the eastern boundary of Banff National Park, which is an internationally renowned tourist destination.
Although they did not cooperate much (they were not very interested in looking at my camera, nor did they want to come for a close up), there is a herd of elk in the photo that dot the tree-line to the right.

this is a fine view the snow capped mountains with sharp details of it. Like the layers of colours. A very good composition indeed. Enjoyed it. Tfs.

I guess it was just as well that the elks didn't get much closer. They brighten the view even with a more distant presence. It's a marvellous scenery in any case, elks or not. There is a perfect gap in the screen of trees to give us a glimpse of the bend in the river. The snow-covered mountain range forms a magnificent background. The composition is well balanced and the exposure is spotless.

I went through here in 2008 but did not stop. The Canadian Rockies are gorgeous and I did spend some time at Jasper, Banff and Lake Louise before going to Calgary. A superb high pov with excellent sharpness and good graphism of the dark pine trees against the white snow. Tfs!

Hello Caleb - What a lovely shot of a beautiful winter landscape. It's easy to understand why people flock to this part of Canada, the landscape looks so pristine and natural. A fine shot and if my husband didn't have a 'thing' about cold weather this is a sight I would love to see.
Have a good weekend

this is lovely wintery picture and taken from good POV. I like the well proportioned composition and how the deers seem not to be bothered by you and your camera and graze peacefully at the forest. Nice landscape and well presented with fresh colors and good sharpness.
Thanks for sharing

A beautiful landscape, deep snow is always good value especially under the brilliant sunlight & colours and the title says it all. Nice crisp with the breath taking backdrop links nicely to the fg and beyond, well no doubt that you found a lead in line guiding us into a nice scene. You have handled the exposure well. Great capture, and TFS
