Photographer’s Note
We spent about a week in the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan area over the holidays so what better time for me to get out and enjoy some of the gorgeous and breathtaking Canadian prairie landscapes. This scene was only about 10 minutes out of the thriving city of Saskatoon but what a site! The sun was just struggling over the horizon and doing everything in its power to break through the crisp -20C air to give me a perfect early morning sunrise glow shot of this barn and windmill. One of the wonderful things about TE is that one gets to see and value the beautiful diversity of our world. Some might be tempted to say that the Canadian prairie landscape is uninteresting and boring! Well, I beg to differ, perhaps in part because I was born and raised there and now as an older person, I just love to revisit and photograph prairies images.

Hi Gerald,
That light on the barn does it all for me...stunning..!!!
You captured it at the right moment in a great mood in much darker surrounding, but it really stands out of it. This is really good work, not only the light, but the whole composition with the mill and the fence on the right, it all fits perfectly...i like it a lot.
Have a nice weekend, Henk

Hello Gerald,
A very well composed scene with good point of view. The barn is nicely positioned in the frame and I like the fence that disappears over the hill on the right. The early morning lighting is perfect on the red barn end. Excellent tones and clarity all round.

This is a simply gorgeous shot! The bit of sun on the barn, while the rest of the scene is already in shadow, is almost magical. Did I mention that the colours are amazing too, very rich and saturated, and a very nice combination too. That wind wheel adds a very nice touch and the fence on the right does too. Stunning work!

Very well done Gerald. The lighting is what makes this shot. I'm with you about the prairies. I spent time in Winnipeg and we go back to Saskatoon periodically to visit relatives. I welcome the chance to photograph a different but familiar landscape.

Hi Gerald, I saw this picture yesterday and i said "wow what a mix of blue and red!", this is again the case this morning and this red of end of day on this building is amazing.
Simple but effective composition.
I would have perhaps applyed a last "neat mask" so that the sky to be perfectly neat
Very nice

There is nothing "uninteresting and boring" about this Gerald. The composition of the unusual (for me) barn and the little windmill would have been good at any time of day, but add that glorious glow from the rising sun and you surely have a winner. Excellent work

Hi Gerald,
Wow, you really caught the great light of th1s one! I like how the side of the barn has that warm glow and it seems like you could use all the warmth you could get during this photo shoot. Super details and composition, Mike

Hi Gerald,
Wonderful use of light highlights this pale red barn in stunning detail. The windmill seen against the pale blue sky is a very romantic element that goes very well with the fresh blanket of snow that is seen in gently shrouded shadows. The line of the fence on the right adds nice depth to this beautiful winter image.

Elegant work here, Gerald. Just a few simple things defining a fine composition, the sun-brushed face of the barn, the windmill, the fence line, the big sky. Great colors, outstanding composition, and fine overall bit of craftsmanship.

Good timing, the absence of sunlight on the snowy parts helped for and even exposure throughout, classic prairie winter shot, my only complaint is the power cables at the lower left corner, though thats not your fault.

Hello Gerald,
The prairies have lots of beautiful views to offer. I often drive the flat area of Alberta looking for barns and other features to satisafy my photographic fantasies. Awesome shot you present us here. Initially I though the barn was red but when I opened the image I realized the warm light of the afternoon created the effect. Good perspective and use of light. Nice work Gerald :-)

Hi Gerald
A typical barn of the new continent.
Very pleasant colours in the early morning with a reflection of the rising sun on the barn.
I appreciate your subject.

Bonjour Gerald,
on devine très facilement où est le soleil, il éclaire avec une belle lumière rouge, ce hangar qui du coup tranche bien avec les couleurs bleutées qui l'entourent.
Belle ambiance hivernale.
Regards.
