Photographer’s Note
Waterton Lake is a mountain lake in southern Alberta, Canada and northern Montana, USA.
UNESCO established the Waterton Biosphere Reserve to protect the diverse habitats including prairie grasslands, aspen parkland, subalpine forests, alpine tundra and freshwater fens that surround the lake. The Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park was inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1995.
Prince of Wale Hotel, constructed between 1926-1927, the hotel was built by the American Great Northern Railway to lure American tourists during the prohibition-era south of the border. The hotel was named after the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII), in a transparent attempt to entice him to stay in the hotel on his 1927 Canadian tour, but the Prince stayed at a nearby ranch instead.
The Prince of Wales Hotel enjoys the distinction of being the sole establishment among Canada's grand railway hotels to have been built by an American, as opposed to a Canadian, railway company. The hotel was designated a national historic site by the Canadian government in 1995.

Nice wide shot of this fairy tale like scene. The mountains forming the background are just beautiful!
Im sure the hotel would love this image to promote themselves on their website or something!

Hi Way:
Nice panoramic of the Prince of Wales. The composition is very good, but obviously the time of day isn't ideal. As a result, the clouds look a bit blown out, and there's a bit of a halo around the edge of the mountains on the left side. Those are my only complaints though. Nice shot. I didn't know about the Prince of Wales' snub--funny story. :)

Hello Way Ne,
What a wonderful, picturesque scene, with those mountains forming a great backdrop to the hotel. I like your POV allowing us to see the mountains far into the distance. The clouds provide nice interest to the sky, and the golden coloured field in the foreground provides a colour contrast. Very well done.
Cheers Grant

Hi Way,
I'm a canadian, but it's the first time I see this good looking hotel. I wasn't aware of Waterton lake neither and your note is very funny and insightful.
The large version looks terrific with crisp details and flattering light. I wonder if the Prince had such a beautiful view on its ranch...
Cheers!

High quality indeed, the large post really impresses.
Great place for a hotel, and I agree with Dave that the Hotel might want a copy og this one.

Hi Way,
Yep i was there in August. Staying nearby at the lake and was willing to make a picture like this but then far from above. I took the wrong hike and never saw the view i wanted. Your stitched version looks pretty good with bright colours on the building and the wide perspective depth in to the far distance on the right.
A nice place to stay when coming from Glacier and a very interesting area to stay.

Hi Way,
Been in the Waterton area a few times and always note this landmark. It stands tall and serves as a "beacom" especially to newcomers. I like your perspective and the panorama is quite creative here. TFS. Gerald

excellent pov, wonderful colors, great sky and perfect clarity. Excellent compo. The hotel seems out of place in this so natural setting - might be the reason the Prince never stopped by. His loss... ;-))

Hi Way,
wow! This is a beauty. I remember this place because I saw a report about it on TV like a year ago. I have no idea what they said about it, but I remember this house, it`s unique.
Lovely light on the left part and some very dramatic clouds on the right part of the image, beautiful. Perfect placement of this hotel and thanks for the informative note!
Take care

hi Way
Very impressive LV of this superb landscape and captured in great light condition. I quite like your choice of wide view to place the hotel in such prominent position to block the mountains, and really dont mind it because of your title.
I notice too that that hotel is at the same 'level' with the mountains.

Hello Way! I stood in front of this hotel but I was not staying overnight but rather in my little tent with the bears :)))) Well I saw bears but not close to my tent but I heard people in front of this hotel discussing their hike and their experiences with a bear. You know why I decided to visit this park? Mainly because of this hotel! I saw a picture in Geo which is similar to National Geograpics and this photographer focused just on this hotel and the lake and the mountains around it and it was taken on a rainy day when the sun came through just a little and I thought that this hotel was the only thing in this environment which is not quite true and I was a little disappointed when I arrived but you know it is a great hotel with a special architecure, the way you show it, and the landscape around it is fantastic and worth the long driving I think. Great photo of yours and I like the beautiful clouds and of course the long chain of mountains in the back. What a place ... Barbara.

This is a good wide view. I presume this is a stitched shot going by the extent of the width we can see here, almost 180 deg. The setting of the place is amazing, surrounded by lakes and high mountains. Especially like the layers of mountains on the right & the clouds. The LV, without a doubt is excellent!
