Photographer’s Note
Anyone familiar with Upper Waterton Lake knows that it's the windiest lake in the entire Canadian Rockies. True story. So apparently I was pretty lucky to get this near perfect reflection.
In all fairness, this was taken at the portion of the lake that forms the marina, so the water is quite a bit more calm here, but in any event this was by far the calmest I saw the lake in my time at Waterton.
My father-in-law and I were returning from a pre-dawn hike to the Bear's Hump to catch the sunrise, when we passed this scene and had to stop. It was quite unexpected, and about the best way to finish a great shoot.

Hi Clark,
Excellent mood captured here and most photogenic light, supporting incredibly beautiful natural colours.
Framing keep the essential elements, including reflection, nice looking clouds and pin sharp row of pines.
Cheers!

Hello Clark,
A beautiful clean & high quality photo. Nice reflections of the mountain & soft blue sky. The green/yellow of the forest makes a nice contrast. Regards. Latiff.

Hi Clark,
This is a real good one. the light, the calm and perfect reflection surface and those clouds on top make this one very pleasant to look at. I was too short at Waterton this year to enjoy the whole area, but seeing this pov i surly missed something....a great shot..!!!

Clark,
I've never been to Waterton (or Canada for that matter - although I hope to soon!) so I'll take your word for it that it isn't normally like this. However, this is a super reflection image by any standards let alone of a lake that is the windiest!.
The lighting is great, wonderful colours, reflections and composition.
TFS,
Richard.

Hello Clark! I did not know about the windiest lake but I had blue skies like you have so I thought this was a little typical for the area :))) How wrong I was! Oh well, the wind part is new but the bad weather is clear when you see all the snow and the hight terrain (we had a lot of snow in June). Fantastic picture, Clark, and I guess it is the cloud that has caught my attention, it makes the picture come to life, not too much but just a little. The rest seems calm before the day fully approaches. I love it, great photo! Best regards, Barbara.

Clark,
This is a well composed shot using the reflection to create depth and balance in the scene. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The clouds above the mountain breaks up the symmetry of the shot and adds a nice finishing touch.

Hi Clark,
That the cloud is not put on the surface of the lake like a mirror makes its beauty stand out. Smooth depiction of the cloud is excellent. Beautiful shot.
Have a nice evening, Hisashi

Clark,
What a perfect reflection, I mean you can litteraly turn this upside down and still be okay. Beautiful light shinning on the tree. The mountain unfortunately is not facing the light and a little muted in comparation. Beautiful composition. The sharpness and clarity of the mountain is a bit soft due to the DoF, but so beautiful regardless.

Very good Clark! Showing how beautiful Canada really is. I would love to get outside the cities for a landscape like this.
Your photo is great. That sky completely justifies your composition choice. Detail is impressive even in the dark areas. Really like this photo a lot.
Merry Christmas and a Great 2009!
