A rainy day in Moraine Lake Photo

Photographer’s Note

It's not uncommon to find some rain in Moraine Lake. I took this one at the canoe dock between just after one storm and...waiting for the next one to come! Moraine Lake is situated in Banff National Park and it's a glacially fed lake, at an elevation of 1885 m. You can take many nice walks there, walking on beautiful trails, and sometimes those trails are closed because of grizzly bear activity.

Non è insolito arrivare a Moraine Lake, nel Parco Nazionale di Banff, e trovare pioggia e nuvoloni che ti passano sulla testa. La bellezza del posto però è tale che anche con gli agenti atmosferici più avversi questo posto riesce a conservare un fascino del tutto particolare. Da Moraine Lake (1885 m s.l.m.) si possono fare delle bellssime camminate lungo i sentieri attrezzati...quando possibile. Già, perchè da queste parti l'attività dell'orso Grizzly è molto intensa e, se un escursionista viene beccato dai rangers a camminare quando il sentiero è chiuso, rischia una multa di 5.000 $.

buongiorno rikk,
questa foto e' consona al tempo di amsterdam - da due giorni piove a scrosci pesanti e nuvoloni neri volano veloci nel cielo...
molto belle queste canoe graffiate dall'uso e quindi non solo messe li per fare scena... una bella composizione caleidoscopica, giri il cilindro e i pezzettini degli alberi cadono nella visuale, lo giri un altro po' e passi alle montagne, lo giri ancora e sei tornato alle canoe...

nonno...il grizzly é morto! L'ho tirato sotto io con il trattore...non é che sono qua a sfamare tutti gli animali del circondario!!!

cmq...bella la nota...piacevole il contrasto tra l'arcobaleno delle barche ed i toni "true and natural" della natura canadese

Ciao Rikk. E geniale. La composizione e geniale! La convergenza degli scafi variopinti si prolunga verso il lago e il suo sfogo dentro la montagna al termine della prospettiva degli abeti. Il nuvolone come valore aggiunto. Una delle tue migliori.

despite of the rain and fog, very nice colours of these canoes. Nice place, good for hiking. I suppose you did not meet grizzly. In my trip last year we saw a bear with youn g one, but only for the short while.

A very good composition with the very colourful canoes contrasting with the rocky mountain peaks - and everything is in focus. I notice the canoes are in a colour order - red, yellow, blue, green and then the pattern starts again - I am sure a coincidence! Tfs, Marlene

Bella idea colorata, le canoe girate.
Ma più che altro, grande divertimento in queste terre distanti e misteriose... Ad Andalo invece (Tn) gli orsi scendono a far la spesa nei cassonetti, ma non lì non si preoccupano più di tanto...

Moraine Lake seems to be popular this summer, I was there only a few weeks ago. I like the way the canoes with their colors fill the bottom of the photo. With just a small part of the lake showing and the low angle draws one's eye back into the photo and up into the mountains where there lies storm clouds hovering over the mountains. Nice shot and thanks for sharing.
