Photographer’s Note
Finally, spring has arrived here, too, on the top of the 8 km long and 2500 m high Opal Ridge. The ridge can be seen in the background, continuing with another 4-5 little peaks. It is situated in Kananaskis Country, along Highway 40, away from the very touristy Lake Louise - Banff - Calgary corridor. Not many plants survive under these conditions, as proven by the bare, reddish buttress in the background. Only the really tough ones.
Good mountain photography is very finicky with regard to light, and nearly impossible with an overcast sky. But I can't really pick my weather, so I did my best, trying to avoid much sky in the image. The peaks in the very back are shrouded in clouds and fog.

The point of view is great the eye traels from the small and gentle flowers to the strenght and sheer size of the mountains.
The colors are nicely rendered. And the cmposition is good.

This is a wonderful picture and it means even more to me since we have just returned from Alberta some days ago ... so much space and beauty.
Well done.

Hi Roland,
A superb shot, i like so much this large foreground with these beautiful flowers. Your shot had a very good DOF with a such framing. Well done.

The setting is great and well composed. I echo you about the lighting. It is hard to get ideal condition in the mountain area comparing to many seascape work. But I would never trade my mountain trip with seascape trip.

Very beautiful contrasting colours with those flowers and I like the perspective given by those mountains tapering into the distance

A well composed shot, Roly. You have done a good job capturing the wild flowers from an interesting POV. Interesting shapes and colours to the humpbacked ridges and peaks beyond. Glad to see that the 20D can perform so well! Great shot.
John
