Photographer's Note

I'm a sucker for meadowland and rugged mountains. Moose are also always a nice bonus. There's one in the foreground (look closely).

This meadow, known fittingly enough as Moose Meadows, is a mere 45-minute drive from the town of Canmore. No hike involved, and it's just off the Smith-Dorrien Trail. And yet I've seen relatively few photos of this fantastic place. It's really a testament to how overwhelming Alberta's scenery is. A beautiful scene like this is overshadowed by even grander scenery, and this sort of wilderness doesn't make the cut for national park status. Amazing place, Alberta.
