Photographer’s Note
Given that this is my 150th post, I thought I'd change it up a little bit. This was one of my early favorites from my Canadian Rockies trip last year, and I've been holding on to it for quite some time for a special occasion. I think this qualifies.
This was my first sunrise in the Canadian Rockies on this trip. If you've never experienced sunrise here, let me just say that there's no better experience. The morning started out completely clear with beautiful pink alpenglow on Mt. Edith Cavell (which I couldn't photograph because I was still en route), but within a half hour clouds started to roll in and the light got pretty dramatic. This was perhaps the most dramatic moment. Absolutely beautiful.
Oh, and I stood here for over an hour and a half and didn't see a soul. Love it.

Hi Clark,
superb light indeed! And those clouds on top of it. Must have been something to witness this first-hand. But I'm glad you brought a picture back so we can enjoy it too. Sharpness, reflection, exposure are all top-notch here. Congrats on your 150th. Send the next 150!
Cheers,

Hi, Clark,
Hearty congratulations on your sesquicentennial post!
This is a splendid shot! I'm especially drawn to two things: the quality of light and the diverse richness of the colors. The stripe of illumination on the peak on the right creates a feeling that is full of promise of the new day. To me, though, the best feature is the bright blue sky in the upper left playing off of the rich green water on the right. Altogether, these two colors and the band of light that separates them give the whole scene a magical charm that is captivating.
Regards,
- William

hello Clark,
spectacular landscape served by an equally spectacular photograph. Your composition with the right hand mountain taking up two third from right to left is perfect. The foreground glassy water and its reflections give balance especially because of the daigonal shaft of light. Derserving of many more points.

Bev

Hi Clark,
Wow, what a view ! The clouds create a dramatic atmosphere that contrasts with the sun on the slopes of the mountain. The reflections are very nice and the colours are very surprising. TFS.

Clark, congrats on reaching the milestone!
Beautiful landscape, too.
Stunning sunlight on the mountain, as well as those clouds starting to close in. You got there just in time. The photo has a strong focal point at the far end of the line of trees, where the reflection, the trees and the band of light on the slope all seem to meet. Very nice work.

Andrew

Hello Clark,
I love the morning when nature is still quiet and your shot perfectly catch this magic moment of the day. Contrast of colors, the mirror in the lake, sunlight on the mountain... Beautiful.
Hope you will share an other 150 post with us!
