To occupy the kids on the long weekend I headed out to the Alberta Birds of Prey Centre. This is one of those centres dedicated to helping hurt birds of prey. My favorite critter out there is this bald eagle -- Lincoln. So I worked on taking a couple good shots while the kids ran around.
PP: A minor crop, sharpen, resize, and frame.
P.S. I have a previous post of the same eagle called "Bald guy" .

To say the truth, this photo should be in a National Geographic magazine.
This is just so incredibly sharp and full of bright colours.
There is a little bit of noise just around the eagle but I would consider it nothing.
Thank you very much for sharing.

Superb clarity, nothing better! No animal represents North America more than this most mighty bird. I quite like the green background, which does not draw attention away from the commanding subject. It is nice to see head and shoulders, instead of a basic whole body shot. Bravo.

Being able to get such a close-up pic of one of these magnificent birds is nothing short of amazing. I understand that they're normally a little wary of human presence but visiting the Birds of Prey Centre has definately offered you a rare opportunity to get close. It was obviously well worth the effort!
Your pic is excellently composed and the colours are really nice. The shallow depth of focus has made your subject stand out incredibly, which is a style that I like very much. Image quality and detail are absolutely superb.
Pics of this standard should be in books! Outstanding work, Mike!

Great great shot. Good framing, very good sharpness and DOF. The contrast between this eagle and the green is very good, I like the details in his/her feathers. Also the eye and the area around the nozzle are very sharp. Lovely how you captured it. Thanks for sharing, superb!
