My wife and I really enjoy the drive through the Highwood Pass located in Southwestern Alberta. This jagged peak really caught my eye especially as the sun peeked through the clouds that day.

What a scene! I like the foreground hill and the angle that it is on sets up a real feeling for the steepness of the slope which helps when we view the mountain. The texture in the mountain is also very interesting. The light is also good for this shot, especially on the hill where it warms up just part of the red ground.

Hi, Phil -

I hope your eye is better now after being caught on that jagged peak! (Sorry, it was too tempting to pass up.)

A great opportunity seized; the diagonals are in perfect position and the lighting is well done. Great contrast too between the grassy and the barren slopes.

Regards,
Dan

Hi Phil,

a mountain like out of a painting, in a perfect light. Nearly unreal :)
Compliments,
Cheers Christian

Hi Phil, Wow, beautiful shot of this very very very dramatic scene, the mountain looks so imposing and dramatic almost scary, superb well done, I really enjoyed admiring it, good composition and POV, well done, thanks for sharing it with us, regards, Joao Salas

Hi Phil,
Fine shot of these very jagged peaks in partially shaded light. Nice and clear and very representative of this area. TFS. Gerald

Wow, this is a beautiful shot! The light is at just the right angle to show the ruggedness of the mountain. I like the light on the foreground slope too, which is quite nice and adds a lot to the photo. Beautiful!

Hello Phil,

This is about as rugged a terrain as I could have imagined. I like the strong diagonal structure you've created by selecting your vantage point where you have. The scale of the scene is provided by the trees in the lower right.
Warm regards from Virginia,

Bulent

Great light, perfect timing! Makes me want to go back.

Hello Phil,
Wonderful light management shows this wonderful jagged peak in all its dramatic detail as it is seen half in light and shadow. The brown hillside also is graced with wonderful soft lighting that renders very vivid relaxing color.
Regards, Tom

Holy crap! It is beyond my comprehension to live in the vicinity of a scene such as that. I love those diagonal lines and the way the shot is divided. The lighting is extraordinary. I just can't even imagine. What a shot!! Thanks and in great envy :))

Good evening Phil. I love both the jagged peak edges here and almost even more the lighting on the extreme right. I would have enjoyed to see more details from that part of the frame. But on the other hand I can see that what you have posted here has a wonderful balance between mountain and contrasting foreground ( foreslope ) Nice work!

Hi Phil,
Mighty high!!!what a shot!!!Saw this while driving ... it's so different driving in Holland that's for sure. Lucky you to live such a magnificent country which I'll visit one day.
I like the contrasts - one is so baron & lifeless ( feel so small ) and the other is so warm and the calming feel to it from the greenery ( feel so alive ). Very well seen.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Phil,
Really sharp, you're right. Your angle is excellent, beautiful shot.

Hi Phil!

Where do you come from?! :-P) I've just discovered your gallery which is fabulous; so many amazing images!

I was about to comment on your whale tail, but browsing through your photos, I could have picked any one of them to let you know how much I like your work. This one is still new from yesterday, so I have picked it. Plus, it deserves so much more points...

I really like the juxtaposition of two different kinds of mountain and the impressive light that reveals the texture of the rocky one.

Tight and efficient composition.

Cheers!

André
