This is one of 48 Fire Pumpers in the CFD. I took this picture while walking with my family along Stephen Avenue mall in downtown Calgary. Here is some history of the Calgary Fire Department:

In Calgary's earliest days, the risk of fire was a constant threat on the dry prairies. An errant ember from an untended wood stove or an overheated pile of straw in a busy blacksmith's shack could quickly flare into a deadly blaze.

Community settlers mustered a volunteer bucket brigade and on Aug. 25, 1885, the Calgary Hook, Ladder and Bucket Corps began building an enduring fire prevention legacy.

From those early pioneers living in tents and shacks to today's 1,100 professionally trained firefighters tackling blazes in high rises and suburban homes, Calgary has been protected throughout the decades by men and women whose first priority is safety.

I may be wrong but this truck looks a bit old but I am not trying to say it looks inefficient! The red colour is superb and the full sun light just on the front made the picture very nice. I also like the CFD logo. Well done.
Antonio

Hola Roberto.

Este tipo de fotos típicas siempre me gustan. Por aqeullo de poder ver cosas que aquí no puedes.

Por tanto, buena foto!

Hello Roberto,

A photowhich is different from your previous post. The vertical framing allowed to put this firemen truck in the middle of the building and to show the urban works firemen are usually performing.
The exposition was well managed to catch details in both the light and the shadows: not so easy on high contrast photo.

Yves.

Yes absulutely a different style from you Rob, and i really enjoy this good quality snapshot, that fire truck colours really make it and the warm sun light creates a different exps. to the subject. Nice shot friend, thanks.

Beautiful truck. I like how you caught it in the urban environment. Great colours.

Hola Roberto,
Such a red firemen truck must be the dream of any kid ! Nice one with distinctively north american style and good light to have the red flash.
Have a nice day JY

Hi Roberto,
I love these old firetrucks. We don't have them here, it's all very modern without any nostalgic feeling in it. But here the red truck really shines and brings out all his beauty...wodnerful.
Regards, Henk

Hi Roberto,

A different vision from you...

HI Roberto,

I like this old fashioned fire pumper. it is very similar to those vehicle we europeans used to see in American movies and series.

I have also a similar picture in my gallery titled "band of brothers". It was the way NYFD called themselves after 9/11 ...and I think we should tribute this kind of honour and respect to them and to fire fighters of all the world

ciao
Silvio

Hi Roberto,
strong difference of light and well combined with that red of the fire fighters. The view has good depth and clarity, but the most attracting for me is the good balance of exposure. Thanks for the note about fire fighters' history.

Roberto,
Great use of tlight and this eyecatcher red here.
I like a lot how the vertical format helps to focus on the lit part of the truck.
Very nice job,
Regards,
JB.

Hello Roberto. You have captured this shot brilliantly with high definition in sharpness and clarity. I like the way light and shadow is being played in this bright contrasting composition. Well done and best regards. Jusni

Roberto
Je regrette un peu l'arrière plan dans l'ombre mais le camion de pompier me plait beaucoup.
Amicalement

Hello Roberto,
The kind of truck every single children dreams about ;-)
Nice composition using this vertical format and this dark background allows enhancing of the flashing red color.
Have a nice day.
Best regards, Christian

Hola Roberto,
The fire truck emerging from the shadows makes a dramatic composition, your note reminds us how much we depend on such services.

Hola Roberto,
Having just the front under the sun makes that eye catching fire truck stand out even more. I appreciate that you achieved a good level of details in the shadow as well. Good choice of POV. A photo fully in the TE spirit.
TFS, Regards, José.

Hello Roberto,

What a truck:))) Really cute:)
This big, red machine going out of the shadow looks really interesting. And I agree with some critiques - absolutely different photo style than usually. Keep on looking for such interesting things...
