[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Fort Calgary was established in 1875 as Fort Brisebois by the North West Mounted Police, located at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers in what is now Calgary, Alberta.
The construction of the fort was initiated on April 10, 1875 by a federal order to force out whiskey traders from the area. Commanded by Éphrem A. Brisebois, "F" Troop travelled north from Fort Macleod to find a suitable spot on the Bow for the fort. On arrival at the location they made a makeshift boat with a wagon box and tarpaulins to cross the Bow. Corporal George Clift King was the first member of the troop to set foot on the location, which is why he is sometimes cited as Calgary's first citizen. Construction began in August or September and the fort was completed in time to host Christmas dinner for the local residents.

Hi Roberto,
You found a fine light here giving these warm colors(maybe in a cold temperature though!)The vertical and off centered framing works well here. Sharp and clear picture

Hi Roberto!
Beautiful photo with great colors and nice composition.
I like the contrast between bright sky and dark ground.

Regards,
Eino

G'day Roberto,
Whilst this looks like a rural setting, I suspect those are city buildings behind the windmill? The sky looks full of changeable spring weather, too! These windmills are a common sight in the Australian outback, 'tho generally not so tall. Nice capture and good historical notes - thanks for sharing.
Regards,
Jeff

Hola Roberto
me gusta la composicion de esta foto. muy buena luz, mostrando una escena ya poco conocida en la ciudad, pero imagino que debe haber sido muy comun.
Buenos coloures y nitidez
saludos
christian

Hello friend, thanks for comment on my horses. Fascinating shot, I like light exposition here and the perspective. Good job,
thanks!

Excellent scene in golden and blue, with the special, rather low light and the vertical framing. I like the silhouette of the windmill on the BG of the blue sky and the warm tones and textures of the field.

Andreea

Hi Roberto,
not too much my favourite despite the light. This is just awesome. I like the warm colours by the sun very much.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Hi Roberto,
The foreground elements looks like hay ??? anyway, they add nice texture to the photo. The warm lighting created a nice rustic atmosphere and somber scene ... beautiful. You've captured and composed the scene well. Image and color quality is good too. Well done! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Hello Roberto,
A beautiful golden light for this fine composition. The vertical framing is perfectly suited. Very good colours and clarity.

Hello Roberto,
We have many similar wind mills in Australia but the fort is something different.
Beautiful Evening? shot with excellent colour and clarity.
A very nice scene.

Good composition.Beautiful natural colors and details. Lovely place,
Georg

Hi Roberto,
Strong dramatic colour tones in the foreground with beautiful light over the field. High detail on the houses in front. Exposure was not easy with all those dark tones but you did a great job here with foreground and sky...excellent.

hello,

Ces espèce d'éolienne m'ont toujour fascinée, on les voyait dans les western, avec de douces couleurs sur le premier plan de l'herbe jaunie, et ce bieau ciel en deuxième plan, superbe compo.

Bravo et amitiés

Nicou

Hi, Roberto,
good evening shot. Really colours. An interesting note.
Best wishes from Ural,
Serghei

Composition, colours, light, sharpness, all the little details are very nicely captured. Well done.
Best wishes,
Achim

Bojour Roberto,
I like this light close to the ground which emphasizes the inequalities of the ground, and creates a beautiful foreground. Framing is adapted at this sight. The note is very interesting. Beautiful work.
Have a nice day

Roberto,
a well composed image of a place that seems to have a certain air of decay. Nevertheless the light that you choose to use here gives the windmill alsmost the aspect of a phoenix.

Hi Roberto,
The warm light is splendid and brings out the forground well. Some nice details especially with the windmill, and I like the pale blue clouded sky.
We have similar windmills here in SA, so its nice to see somewhere else too.

Wanda

Hi Roberto,
This is a very impressive shot both in both composition and with your handling of the tough side/backlighting. I love the lighting and the lonely feeling that this image evokes which mirrored the feeling that many of the soldiers or Mounties, who were stationed at this remote outopost, undoubtably had. Superb!
Stan
