Here is one of my favorite mountain shots from our Canadian Rockies trip last year. The mountain is called Crowfoot and there is a glacier on it of the same name. The mountain takes it's name from the glacier - the glacier is called Crowfoot because of the distinctive crow's foot shape of the lower ends of the ice. The glacier has receded since its naming in the late 1800's and today only two of the three toes of the crow's foot remain visible. However, it remains one of the most photographed mountains in the Canadian Rockies and it can be found on many calendar and postcard images.

This photograph is part of a larger panorama that you can see and /or download at Wpanorama.com. I believe it works either way - I have three 19" LCD monitors attached to my computer and stretch the panorama across the desktop - it fits perfectly. It is my favorite panorama from our vacation.

An early season snow storm was chasing us up the Icefield Parkway from Lake Louise to Jasper, you can see that it is starting to envelope the mountain from the left (south). There is actually a splash of sunshine on the rocks below. It was an interesting day weather-wise and somewhat challenging to get great photographs. The lake at the base of the mountain is Bow Lake.

The Canadian Rockies have to be one of the most beautiful places on earth.
