After quite a while I post this image here. We have been to Canada's West recently and I made thousands of shots. This is my personal favourite.
I shot this picture on Dempster Hwy in the very north of Yukon Territory in late August 2007. The sun was not yet setting but still only a little above the horizon and thus we had this wonderful warm light.
Hope you enjoy this. |

Hi Martin,
This is a very beautiful and interesting photo, because of light, colours and the monument (inukschuk). No surprise that is your favourite.
When I saw this I supposed it was in Nunavut, because the inukschuk (or inuksuk) is a symbol in Nunavut's flag and coat of arms. Let me quote About the Flag and Coat of Arms, from the Government of Nunavut webpage:
"The inuksuk symbolizes stone monuments which guide people on the land and mark sacred and other special places."
So, your photo shows that also the peoples of Yukon use these monuments.
Regards,
F
