Benjamin ArnardJuak, an Inuit friend, is walking back nonchalentely to his Kamutik (sled)after briefing his dog team on the necessity to take some rest and stay where they are. We are on a the frozen sea in Nunavut. Hours away from the hamlet of Hall Beach . Minutes later we will take a walk to watch a seal breathing hole hoping to harpoon a big one . Trust between man and dogs here is essential, a matter of survival. If they decide to take of, our life is at stake. Makes me think that the first nations will also probably be the last nations.

Hi, I like the diagonal composition in this shot. Might have been a little better with the sled closer to the bottom right hand corner of the image & less sky. This would also have brought the dogs closer. As it is they are a bit indistinct. Overall these don't take much away from an interesting image. cheers, Steve

Amicalement
JJ

Hello, Jean Pierre!
You shot has a really interesting subject. This is something we all read books in a childhood about, but we don't see such pictures in reality. Thank you for bringing our North dreams to life.

Katya.

Hello Jean Pierre,
Nice shot, good composition, great note!
I think it as some "extra" noise but probably is because of the cold mist...
Keep Shooting!

Bonjour Jean-Pierre,

Cordialement, Laurent.

Hello Jean Pierre
encore une superbe image du Nunavut
C'est trés bien composé et trés autenthique, on ressent bien l'atmosphère particulière?
C'est vraiment beau
Merci pour le partage

Hello again Jean Pierre,

Great scene, I really like how you describe the situation. It really gives meening to the phrase "mans best friend." I've shot a few photos of a dog team, but none as descriptive as your photos.

Hi , Jean Pierre .
Very beautiful photo . Great composition and colours , as well as the framing .
I like the " blurred " sky and the position of your Inuit friend is perfect . Your note says it all !
Dorte.

Bonjour Jean Pierre

If this isn't a classic then I don't know.
My first impression was that this was a painting, but it's not.
The original seems to have been in a little bad shape, features have faded slightly, colours are somewhat dim. But it fits perfectly here.
Composition is perfect, the attention is given right to friend and the sled.
Photo exposure is the best feature about the original photo, the snow is depicted perfectly and the somewhat low light impression we are getting is perfect to really bring out the features and colour of the sled, the dogs and your friend.
Take care.

Odd Jarle
