[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
If you want to meet walruses like these, you'll have to go in the canadian arctic, in Nunavut for example. I found this couple in the Foxe basin, say 3 or 4000 Kilometers north of Montreal. These apparently candid mammals can be deadly once in the water. They can attack and destroy boats. Very little is known about them to this day.

Jean,
I like to review members portfolios and look for underrated photos and this is one of them. This excellent wildlife photo deserves more than just two critiques, especially since you made the effort to travel to a remote place just to see these huge and powerful animals. Do you ever watch the interesting (if not somewhat silly) series on the Animal Planet network about mock battles between two powerful animals? The engineers and biologists combine emiprical knowledge and speculation and place all of the variables into a computer program. The walrus was pitted against the polar bear. The walrus won easily. No surprise.
