Meet Benjamin Aarnardjuaq, a Canadian hero and a prominent figure of the Hamlet of Hall Beach in Nunavut. He is seen here wearing the parka provided by the airline (Nordair) that employs him as a cargo handler. We shared a meal at his place on that day. As his wife is cooking the burgers inside their modest house, Ben is feeding his puppy dogs, using a axe to chopp steaks off a rock solid frozen walrus that lays on the ground. A few month later, Ben had both legs amputated following a hunting accident. He jumped in the freezing sea to rescue fellow hunters than had to wait 24 hours before a helicopter was able to pick him up. Never mind, a year later he was back hunting with his dogs and his artifical legs.
I will try to post more photos of this living legend of the arctic.

hello, this is a highly interesting picture and I would enjoy to see more about that man. Maybe you can tell us what are your relationships with him. Actually, it remembers me this very nice old russian Derzou Ouzala movie

Salut JP,
Daniel

Hi again Jean Pierre,

Another great portrait. I really like the way you illustrate how he tends to his animals, and lives. It's really hard to imagine a life like his for a person who grew up with all the things modern man has created.... TFS.
