| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| This picture was taken on an early August evening. We were doing some geophysical work in the mountains a few kilometers west of White River Lodge. This area is sandwhiched between the Alaska Hwy and the Alaska border just north of Kluane National Park. On good weather days we took advantage of the long summer days and hiked up a few 1000 feet from camp to enjoy a cup of tea and watch the sun go down. You can pick out some sheep trails in the left part of the photo. We were surrounded by Dall Sheep the whole time we were in the area but they never got close to us, not surprising considering they are hunted in this area. The colors were great. Cropped the pic a bit, colors are as they appeared. |

Welcome to TE, Gabe.
You start with a very nice photo, well composed and exposed. Those colors on the slopes are wonderful.
The sharpness isn't bad, but it could be a bit better. It's a pitty that the sky is so burnt out, but I guess that's the price for not having the shadow completely dark.
I wish I had some "rate quota" left to be able to give you some points.
Keep posting and criticizing.
Regards, Jose.

nice first image. I like the steep angles of those mountains . and the colors are wonderful. Since the sky is blasted out I might crop as much of it as possible.
take care,
John
I didn't realize the Yukon was so barren! Of course I didn't expect a lot of trees either. Nice colors here, and nice interplay of light and shadow. It's good you included only minimal sky since it's white. (Perhaps you could have cropped even more.) Nice one, Gabe. Regards, Ken.
