Taken from a commercial flight from Glasgow to Vancouver, this shot shows a classic 'Piedmont' glacier somewhere on Baffin Island.
Where mountain valleys open onto larger valleys or lains valley glaciers spread into wide formations called piedmont glaciers.
The way the daylight has captured this scene is reminiscant of a large face and the two eyes and tongue can readily be seen.
