Photographer’s Note

This is a picture of a Norwegian sailing ship that was attempting to cross the North West Passage and had to turn back due to ice conditions. I thought it would make an excellent photo showing the blue skies of the arctic, the snow falling on the right side of the picture showing that winter was approaching. The open water shows that the ice hasn't yet stopped all navigation. Temperature was around - 5 degrees C.
I used an Olympus E-20N digital camera on automatic setting.

C'est une belle photo de paysage avec une luminosité intéressante dans le ciel et sur la côte (un peu sombre sur la mer au premier plan). Impressionnants les blocs de glace qui flottent! Et les remous (peut-être créés par le bateau sur lequel tu es?). On sent bien le froid, brrrr!
Un détail qui attire l'oeil : ta photo penche un poil sur la droite.

Magnificent! That big cloud and the ice give us, in a very clear way, the difficulty and the distinctiveness of the circumstances. I like the dominative grey!
