Inukshuk (singular), meaning "likeness of a person" in Inuktitut (the Inuit language) is a stone figure made by the Inuit. The plural is inuksuit. The Inuit make inuksuit in different forms and for different purposes: to show directions to travellers, to warn of impending danger, to mark a place of respect, or to act as helpers in the hunting of caribou. Similar stone figures were made all over the world in ancient times, but the Arctic is one of the few places where they still stand. An inukshuk can be small or large, a single rock, several rocks balanced on each other, round boulders or flat. Inuit tradition forbids the destruction of inuksuit. Each one is interesting and different.

Vera, that is a very unique subject, so well balanced and open... haven't seen any so intriguing around Iqaluit yet. Very good write up on the subject too. The landscape seems quite flat, is that a tidal flat meeting up with the ocean, I always expect to see more mountains around Clyde!
Very nice touch to have the brave wild flowers decorating the legs of the inukshuk!

Hi Vera, the composition is great...by positioning the subject in the right side of the frame, it seems that the 'head stone' of the Inukshuk is gazing out to the ocean...nice colors, and well done. I can't think of any way to improve it, other than perhaps adding a bit of a border which would bring out some of the colors in the photo. Good note as well. Best Regards, Linda.

This is a perfect note and teaches a lot. Framing of the pic and PoV is very good. It's obvious that it's difficult to take the pics of the objects with no contrast between. But you have managed it very well here. The only point is that (may be I'm wrong, I don't know) it seems to me a little over sharpened.
Anyway good job. Thanks for sharing...

Tonight I was travelling with the TE browser with the word Earth >> North America >> Canada >> Northern; the gallery shows 105 shots... this is the second picture of the 105 for which a critique will be posted.
Thanks to the photographer's note, It helps locating this Inukshuk;
This Inukshuk standing alone in a remote country with small yellow flowers and colorful rocks in the foreground is unusual and very odd.
P.S. I placed this one in my favorites
