Hi Virgile,
There are some strange things going on here, as I`m looking at your EXIF data:
1.Exposure Time 0 ??
2.Focal Length 21/1 mm
3.File Size 64 kb ??...instead of 200kB, which you are entitled to?
I don`t think that your new "toy" is set up properly because the picture is not sharp, yet, you used a tripod.

Nelu

This would have been the highlight of my night if it had have been sharp. I agree with Nelu Goia, something seems to be amiss...
Did you take the shot by firing the shot by hand, or did you use the timer mechanism or even a remote.
What about "mirror lock up" I know it iis an option in the D30.
Even though we have lost some of the detail - i still find it an emotive shot and I would love to see it for myself.

Hi Virgile,
First off, I will say I love the composition here, and the northern lights here are very beautiful. However, this image seems to really lack sharpness and focus. A long exposure is crucial and sharpness are crucial for this shot, and as others note, these details seem to be missing. You say you use a tripod, but it appears otherwise. Perhaps just getting used to your new toy :) Thanks for sharing!
