Photographer’s Note
(Click the photo for larger version)
This picture is taken at Bush Pilot Hill in Yellowknife. I've used 8 different photos to stitch them together.
In the centre of the photo, we can see the buildings at downtown Yellowknife. Left side of the photo is Yellowknife Bay (if you look carefully you can see a grey thin line, which is an iceroad that connects Yellowknife to Dettah), to the right side of the photo is Back bay.
Northern Light activity in Yellowknife is generally quite active. If Weather permitting, you can see Northern Light's activity at least once a week.
Any suggestion/criticism about the photo are welcome!

Hi David.
Nice colors of the sky, but I suggest you to make some tests with differents under exposures because the town lights are over exposed.
try with 12, 10, 8 seconds.
Good luck.

Beautiful!! Everyone around here commented that you handled the Northern Lights really well. Good job putting 8 (!!) different photos together. Had a relative that worked at this mine so it was interesting to see your photo and read your description of the area.

Hi David,
This is an amazing capture of this wonderful phenomena. I have never seen Northern lights before so today you show me something new.
I love the panorama shot, you have put a lot of effort into this, and the frame sets it nicely.
Sorry, I should also mention how well you have done this technically, I imagine these lights move but you've also captured the lights of the town. Settings just right. Well done.
Thanks and take care
Karen

Good handling of the stitching. The town lights are a little bit overexposed but the handmling of the northern light is perfect. Congratulations.

Dear David
I've read your INTRO. I've seen your portfolio. I've noticed amount of points on your account...(??!!) and now my head is spinning. You deserve so much more!
Whole bunch of your works is nothing short of perfection. Full of artistic fantasy, allegory of lights and great points of view.
I won't comment the details of your images. I'll just enjoy them tremendously.
A+++

I just tought this week that northern lights would give a fine panorama theme. Most certainly I will never be at a place where I could capture one. Thank you for doing it. A shame that the lights in the town are so very bright, but that looks not so worse in the large version where also some stars are visible.

Absolutly fabulous view !
Despite the fact there is a barrier on the left of the picture (you should choose an other foreground), it is very well composed.
How lucky you are to be able to see nothern lights !

Amazing shot. Excellent job capturing the Aurora! You have put together the photos brilliantly, I could not tell they were stitched together until I read your note. I love Yellowknife and hope to spend more time there in the future. Thanks for sharing.
mike.
