Photographer's Note
If there is one place on earth that gives me a complete sense of detachment from the stresses of daily live and allows me to feel a "oneness" with nature,it is when I take my canoe out on wilderness excursions through whitewater rapids.
This is a friend who accompanied me on a canoe run down the Batiscan river northwest of Quebec City. It is difficult to describe in words how it feels to navigate through such a setting...reading the subtle movement of water over boulders that allows you to choose the best path to thread your canoe through the rocks without the danger of capsizing...to feel you are part of the raging river.
Such beautiful wilderness rivers are being increasingly threatened with society's need for more electrical energy, which translates into more dammed rivers which would transform these rapids into lake reservoirs. What a loss that would be.
The latest attempt to dam this river has been put aside by the government....but who knows when another request will be made.

What a great shot of what seems to be an even greater sport. I have never tried it, but after your description I feel like giving it a real go.
Good colors and sharpness of image. The river really looks wild with all the white waters. Nicely done.

Looks a real good bit of grade 3 - 4 river, one definatley has no time for other life worries when paddling this sort of flow, absolutley magic scene(happy days).
for me 2 minnor things 1 the white in the forground looks a little over exposed or over sharpened, and he lacks alittle bit of extra room down stream to paddle into

Pleasure to confront in streams and enjoyment for me to see this man in the exercise of its sport. The colours of the water are beautiful without excess and the image consists well enough for the occasion.
Plaisir de se mesurer aux flots et joie pour moi de voir cet homme dans l'exercice de son sport. Les couleurs de l'eau sont belles sans excès et l'image est assez bien composée pour la circonstance.
