Photographer’s Note
The old steam engine here looks as though it is about to crash through the bush and dive into the river. However, the track takes a turn well before the river's edge and it veers off to the right. I was walking on a riverside path back towards the train station and there was a bend in the river where I could see the waiting train, already putting out steam for the return journey to Hull (Gatineau). The journey of one and a half hours each way followed the Gatineau River upstream and through the forests along the river bank. The opposite shore line was edged with hills which were covered with lots of maple, aspen and fir trees, which look their very best in the Fall season.
