Photographer’s Note
Québec City is the capital of the Canadian province of Quebec and is located within the Capitale-Nationale region. It is the second most populous city in the province – after Montreal, about 233 kilometres (145 mi) to the southwest. As of the 2006 Canadian Census, the city has a population of 491,142 and the metropolitan area has a population of 715,515.
The narrowing of the Saint Lawrence River approximate to Quebec City and Lévis, on the opposite bank, provided the name given to the city, Kébec, an Algonquin word meaning "where the river narrows". Founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain, Quebec City is one of the oldest cities in North America. The ramparts surrounding Old Quebec (Vieux-Québec) are the only remaining fortified city walls in the Americas north of Mexico, and were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985 as the 'Historic District of Old Québec'.
Quebec City is internationally known for its Summer Festival, Winter Carnival, and the Château Frontenac, a hotel which dominates the city skyline. The National Assembly of Quebec (provincial parliament), the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec), and the Musée de la civilisation (Museum of Civilization) are found within or near Vieux-Québec. Among the other attractions near the city are Montmorency Falls and the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré in the town of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré.

Hello Christian,
You have produced a superb night shot, featuring extraordinary light management, colors and resolution. By presenting the musician who is virtually motionless, you could afford to shoot at a relatively slow 1/30 second shutter speed. It's too bad we cannot hear the music he is playing on his saxophone.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Christian,
Amazing low-light shot. Great perspective with the line of stores. The man in the foreground playing the sax adds mood. Noise is kept to a minimum. That's the strength of a Canon camera.

Hi,Christian -
Excellent handling of light and shadow. The musician is a bit hard to see, but there's no way he could stand out, and what attracted me to the shot was the overall glow of the light, combined with the blue hour sky. My first thought when I saw the thumbnail was of Van Gogh's Cafe Terrace at Night; this scene is a mirror image of it.
Regards,
Dan

ciao Christian,

Amicalement
Denis!

A nice evening scene. really look like french scene to me!. You did a strong pp with a powerfull red dominant colour. Perhaps a little strong but it also helps to create this so special atmosphere.

Hi Christian,
This is a wonderful nightshot with all those glittering tungsten yellows and your warm wb application. I like the vertical compo, which adds to the perspective, and the idea of keeping the musician as to give us a sense of size. The branches filling up the sky are also good to keep in. TFS,
Deniz

Hi Christian,
Interesting and original view over beautiful Quebec City. Fine balance between buildings light and the sky.
The presence of the street musician brings a lot to your shot and you have attributed him a perfect space and location within your composition.
Cheers!

Me gusta mucho la perspectiva y la luz. Una imagen con una gran atmósfera y estupendos tonos dorados. Me gusta el solitario músico poniendo música a la noche. Buen trabajo amigo!
