Photographer’s Note
Despite the title, this was actually taken before lunchtime (around 10h00 AM) at a place called "Marais du Nord" near Lac Delage. It is quite representative of east canadian wilderness which holds numerous waterways and swamps. The bird is an Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), also called "Balbuzard pêcheur" in french. It is quite a show to watch them soar 100 feet above the water, hover a short while and then plunge to catch a fish. This one had to struggle to get back out of the water with its prey, which gave me plenty of time to take the picture. Hope you like it.
Technical note:
Used an f2.8 300mm telephoto lens with 2X teleconverter
In Photoshop, picture was cropped, resized and framed. Slight brightness and contrast adjustment.

Hi Michel,
I wonder who has the better catch? A well done almost a portrait work of an osprey on take off with its catch. I imagined you must have had spent quite some time waiting for this, and has gotten quite a collection of this scene. Wish I have a bird of prey for me to study up close and personal such as you have here.

Bonsoir Michel
Excellente prise assez nette sur fond (heureusement) flou. Tu as du faire preuve de rapidité. On peut apercevoir quelques gouttes d'eau qui tombe probablement de la bouche du malheureux poisson.

This is exellent moment.
But the blemish top of the bacground is steal at the scene.

Great shot. The telephoto has worked so well here that the claws of the bird are easily visible, something that is rarely visible with the naked eye. Well done.

Bonsoir, Michel,
oh, I am a MAD fan of bird photos and this is just awesome! Caught in mid-flight, great detail and color. Perfect BG blurring to make the osprey stand out AND with its fish! Oh, this is just wonderful! Fabulous shot! Merci and kindest wishes,
Shelly

Je suis surpris par la réactivité de l'image et du photographe. Ici la récompense se voit sur l'image.
Trés bien vu, JC
