Plains of Abraham Photo

Photographer’s Note

The Battlefields Park is a pleasant place to take a walk, to practise the cross-country ski, to join friends, and many other activities in all seasons.

That day, although we couldn't see very far, I liked the special mood given by the thick fog.

With all this white peaceful landscape in mind, it is difficult to imagine that it could have been a battlefield, someday in the past. Today the place is called Plains of Abraham, a popular designation. Abraham Martin, one of the first lay persons to settle on the heights of Québec, never owned or even inhabit the land that bears his name today; instead he used the area to graze his cattle.

Maria,

Very good not you have written there and it helps us to understand the photo a bit more.

The scene is wonderful and really oozes winter however my eyes unfortunately are continually drawn to the man at the front. I can see what you were going for compositionally however I really do believe that your picture would have had more of an impact without him there and would have reminded me of an L S Lowry painting

Maria: Wonderful framing, POV and mood here. I like the fairly monochromatic quality of most of the image, with a splash of blue (blue jeans) in the foreground. I enjoyed reading your note and careful observations of this location. Thank you for sharing this beautiful image and interesting history of the Plains of Abraham.

I like the contrast between the figure in foreground and the faint figures in background.
The trees contribute to create the winter atmpsphere.

This place seem fantastic in black and white. You have captured the essence of the place and day with a somber mood. Very nice framing with the trees on the left creating a natural frame and the people giving the image life and dynamics. I like this picture Maria. Thanks friend :-)

J'aimerais bien pouvoir vivre l'hiver dans cette atmosphère. Le paysage est très plaisant. Le plaisir doit être grand, malgré le froid, de sentir la neige crisser sous ses chaussures. Joli travail.

Ouah! le Canada, l'ambiance hivernale telle que je me l'imagine et telle qu'elle me fait rêver à ce pays où je ne peux m'empêcher de penser que j'y serais bien, très bien même, car à ma place sur cette planète. En effet cette photo simple et réussie dit beaucoup plus qu'il n'y parait à première vue et c'est tout son interêt.Bravo pour la silhouette de dos au premier plan.

Acabei de comentar uma foto do Peter e falei que ele estava "fera". Preciso dizer que suas fotos estão igualmente cada dia melhor. A composição está de primeira, com o maridão(?) a ajudar na bela profundidade de campo.

Simplesmente, esplêndida esta captura. Está artística, impressionante. Amei este tom noir da foto. As árvores que ladeiam o lado esquerdo, com a luz passando por seus galhos, está um show, e os elementos muito bem dispostos, com a pessoa, à direita, em destaque maior, dando o contra-balanço para o número de árvores no lado oposto. É provável que em função da luminosidade está baixa, você o desceu o F/Stop, mas mesmo assim, as pessoas que estão ao fundo, deram a profundidade devida para a captura. Parabéns. Excelente trabalho. Oi,

Que bela foto. Realmente a atmosphere e bem especial. Gosto da composicao com as arvores como moldura e as pessoas ao longe quanse desaparecendo no meio da neblina. Estou dividida quanto ampresenca do homem no primeiro plano, pois tira um pouco da atmopsphera de misterio. O jeans me incomoda um pouqhinho pois como e o unico elemento colorido na foto acaba atirando bastante a atencao. Meu marido esta perto de Montreal esta semana - curtindo o frio! Ele me disse que ontem nevou bastante ne?

Uma foto de Inverno muito bonito. Gosto muito da atmosfera dada pelo nevoeiro. As pessoas também estão muito bem, gostoda forma como captou o homem em primeiro plano e as pessoas ao fundo. A luz também está muito boa!

Esta ambiência é muito bonita, se tivesses cortado um pouco a foto em baixo desaparecia aquele azul única cor que sobressai desta bela composição.
è sempre um cenário muito bonito do inverno rigoroso que por ai se faz notar.

I like the framing with the trees, somehow makes association with soldiers in a row that are tired of everything - still standing in the perfect row but with their bodies and hands not so disciplined. I somehow think that the foggy weather fits battlefields.

Uma compo muito bem conseguida, com as grandes árvores ocupando a metade diagonal da imagem e de certa forma enquadrando todas aquelas pessoas cuja disposição espacial parece ter sido criada de propósito para a foto. O nevoeiro tb. ajuda a torná-la muito especial.

MC,
que espetaculo de foto. A atmosfera esta perfeitamente captada e gostei do jogo de profundidade com o rapariga a frente. Eu to sabendo quem ele e. Um sequestrador de medicas brasileiras para estas bandas frias, nubladas e cheia de neve. Mas nao e que ficou legal? O azul da calca atrapalha um pouco o efeito monochromatico desta imagem e acredito que teria convertido em P&B lustroso e com muito contraste.

Hello Maria,
the plains are a beautiful place. Always a lot of people there. People running, skiing, walking...I like how you present it because it really gives that winter and cold but friendly feeling that should be associated with Québec

A couple of things I don't really like: the man in front which I find too proeminent and also the texture all around. It looks like the picture went through a noise removal software...

Una excelente composicion con la presencia del hombre en primer plano en perfecta nitidez y luego que se va alejando la profundidad vemos como se cubren de niebla las otras personas. Me necanta ver la niebla y tu has captado una foto donde podemos difrutar de su belleza. La nieve cubriendo el parque tambien esta muy bien lograda.

Je trouve un plaisir de découvrir ma province au travers la vision d'une personne née ailleurs et qui découvre l'endroit avec des yeux neufs, alors que les miens sont blasés depuis si longtemps par l'habitude.La photo m'aide à changer celà.
Une belle atmosphère se dégage de ta photo, un peu de nostalgie, du feérique même.
La rangée d'arbre est bien situé et malgré l'ouverture sur la droite, on ne voit rien.La brume nous oblige à deviner.

Muchas gracias por tu critica escribes muy bien en espanol, yo no puedo hacerlo en portugues pero me gusta mcuho y puedo entenderlo asi que me puedes escribir en Portugues si quieres o en Espanol, e Ingles.
