During the month of April, Canada celebrated the Asian Heritage Month to commemorate the rich historical baggage and influence that Asian communities have left in Canada. As part of the festival, I had the opportunity to attend a fascinating performance that combined a kaleidoscopic amalgam of artistic elements including paintings, a fusion of modern and traditional music, video projections... Each one of these elements fit extraordinary well with the other and had a remarkable effect on the whole performance.... Impressive was to observe the agility, flexibility and delicate movements of the dancer Geneviève La that, despite her advanced state of gestation, she floated in the stage, ethereal, light....

I found this article by Neil Boyce in the Mirror Montreal that explains how the performance was concived and developed:

"The piece Éclats Nocturnes began when Iranian-born painter Khosro Berahmandi loaned Taiwanese flute-player Shuni Tsou his studio for a practice space. Intrigued by the new environment, Tsou began to compose for the paintings around her.

They soon added more musicians, and ideas grew wilder and busier with each rehearsal.

A filmmaker was brought onboard, Berahmandi says, "to interpret the painting in the language of film." A dancer was invited to complete the sense of movement, and to take it all full-circle, Berahmandi produced a series of paintings in response to the collaboration, to be exhibited at the event.

What emerges is a multi-sensory experience: intricate paintings are the setting for the Chinese dizi (bamboo flute) and Iranian tombak (percussion) from Ziya Tabassian, joined by avant-garde bass player Nicolas Caloia. Dancer Geneviève La interprets the paintings through her movements while images by Shahin Parhami are projected as the final layer to a hypnotic stage atmosphere. Together, the six artists merge tradition and innovation, individuals and communities"

Many thanks to Mr. Berahmandi for giving me the opportunity to enjoy and take pictures during the performance. You can find more photos of the event in this link:

Hi Andre,
an eyecatcher, striking in the middle of others.
I like that her face is clearly visible, and the body is just a silhouette.
Cheers Chris

One of a kind, extremely interesting photography, Andre...

It keeps me in the suspense of the big happenings to come...
Mysterious and really, really good stuff.
Her face... The hands, the weigh of a belly - and the texture...
Holy Virgin... THE TEXTURE !!!

I take it as it is ..

Hi Andre,

Regards,

Flavia

Quelle photo ... gracieuse!
Petit détail qui me frappe.

Hello Andre. Your photo is a play with light, shade color etc.. The result is an impressing study of the human body. The title fits very well. A good shot. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Bravo,
Cath.

Hello Andre,
This is quite cinematic with a painter's eye too. The colours, the grain and the shadow interplay is nicely dramatic and sensual.
