Christchurch in winter Photo

Photographer’s Note

My third post of Christchurch cathedral. This peacefull haven is situated smack downtown, on one of the busiest shopping streets (St-Catherines). I only thought about doing this in B&W after some initial processing which had included color saturation (there is some yellow tint in some of the stonework and the door is bright red).

Wonderful! The lines of the naked branches effectively mask the building in the background for me, drawing my attention to the two subjects: the church and the trees themselves. Also, the B&W effect highlights the natural contrast present in a scene such as this. Good Work!

I like this very much and I think the b/w works well.

Interesting angle, I like the line made by the four trees. The branches are crisp and clear - and there's a sense of cold emanating from the scene - well done!

Great choice to use B&W ... very effective. I've seen this church surrounded by modern buildings. The contradiction is ironic. There are fewer old churches, monestaries and nuneries in downtown Montreal. Would make for a great photo exhibition! Nice shot!

Richard this is a wonderful photo in black and white. I can so clearly see so many shades of in between tones which make a wonderful presentation. Good results so clearly seen..thanks for sharing!

Very good photo with the black-white underlining the ol gothic appearance of the church. The tree in foreground gives the dimension for the eye of the background.

Hi Richard,
This is a great contrasty black and white image. The black and white seems to bring out all the wonderful textures so nicely. Well composed with the row of trees on the one side.
