Photographer's Note

Ile Ste-Hélène, Parc Jean-Drapeau.

This winter, a known juice manufacturer, had the brilliant idea to light the sphere in order to give him the appearance of a large orange. The effect was seizing and the immense blow of pub.

Seen outside of what was in 1967, during the World Fair, the Pavillion of the United States. In the beginning, the totality of the metal structure was covered with acrylic resin panels of various colours for thus filtering the rays of the sun according to its orientation during the day and by the fact even, that made it possible to better control the ambient temperature during the heats days of summer which the World Fair will have lasted.

Unfortunately, in reference to maintenance work on the metal structure during the summer of 1976, of the sparks of welding started a fire. The totality of the acrylic resin panels ignited causing same cost, the loss of all that was there inside.

Today, entirely renovated, the building belongs at the Canadian State and a center on the interpretation of water, of the St-Laurent river as well as a research center took seat in these places.
