Photographer's Note

After work. I decided to walk home. Unusual. Notre-Dame West Street, Montréal, street known for its antiquity stores. And then, a different window. Crossing viewpoints…

The work is from Jean Tannous, painter. He opened his gallery, Europ’Art in Montréal in 2003. We see, here, the front window. His works are a faerie of vibrant, warm and rich colors.

Il est vrai qu'il n'est pas donné à tout le monde de croiser le regard de Vincent van Gogh !
Entre image plaquée, avec pour seul relief la matière des pigments sur la toile, et relief du mannequin à la posture figée, arborant des peintures tribales post-modernes, n'y aurait-il d'autre issue que cette rue peu fréquentée ? Frontière faussement transparente de la vitrine, frontière de la ligne jaune à ne franchir sous aucun prétexte, illusion de l'immensité du ciel qui se reflète par-delà la cime des arbres... Décidément, les apparences paraissent de moins en moins trompeuses ! ;-)
Je me demande ce que cela aurait donné en abaissant légèrement ton point de vue, pour éviter le reflet de la chaussée et de ces deux automobiles. Pour mieux explorer une certaine part de mystère, peut-être...

idea is interesting, reflection of the trees is good, but the reflection of the car really spoils this picture :(, you should be more carefull next time.

This is kind of creepy,but I really like it! To see van Gogh staring at me, and this strange mannikin all painted up is surreal and fantastic. Really engaging, provocative image, Claire! I hope to see more like this from you!

Très intéressant de voir cette photo qui rend perplexe. On y trouve beaucoup de toutes sortes de choses inusitées ou de curiosités sur la rue Notre-Dame et il s'en passe aussi une multitude de bien d'autres tout près au 1 Notre-Dame

The tilt and general posture of the mannequin is nice. Plus for now it's still a surprise to see a mannequin like this -- which explains Partha's question above.
I will include this pic in my Mannequins_Dummies group theme -- hope you'll add some more!

une gallerie jeune et déjà haute en couleurs.
cette photo est tres bien realisée et le reflet qui pourrait être une gêne devient un element tres favorable à ta jolie composition.

Jolie prise Claire. J'aime bien ce regard complice de Vincent derrière ce mannequin qui semble jouer les indifférentes. Beau mélanges de teintes et de couleurs. Bravo.

well i have procrastinated writing critique for this this photo for quite a while .... to be honest, it is not one of very innovative dual reflection photo I have seen ... but I do love the colours in this photo and the Van Gogh painting (Van Gogh being one of the artist I admire the most)

PS: It is definitely far better than any of my photo with reflections (I don't have any ...lols)

This is an awesome double picture- so much is going on. First, you have the slightly strange art form of the woman looking quite pleased with herself, but little does she know, behind her, Van Gogh is making the expression of 'can you believe this?' But then over all of that, you have the window reflection. Great job!

Usually I'm not too delighted with reflections on photograph, but this one is for me a trully amazing shot. Good noticed, well composed. You manage to capture two different world in one photo. One virtual world of art and one harsh, everyday world expressed by the reflections of cars.

Je reviens sur cette reflection. Déjà bravo pour le coup d'oeil. Ces 2 visages/yeux se ressemblent étrangement.

A mon sens, ce ciel clair perturbe un peu, j'aurai cadre differement en l'evitant, ce qui aurait permis d'avoir plus du la scène urbaine. C'est vrai que cette voiture ne contribue pas trop à la scène (enfin je pense). Avoir un passant(personne vivante) defilant devant la vitrine aurait été une bonne idée par opposition aux statiques modele et Van Gogh!

j'aime ce contraste grand classique et hyper moderne, ce dégradé dans VVG, 2 portraits où l'on peut se poser la question est-ce de vrais personnages ou bien des peintures , trés beaux regards croisés
